It does make sense though, richest county in the U.S. and very few private high schools.

I know for a fact PVI isn’t only accepting the kids with the best grades and athletic ability. They basically took anybody last spring. Kids who scored terribly on the HSPT and had very low GPAs coming from public.

If you are a top basketball or lacrosse player they may get a little extra bump but still applications did grow 10 fold since the move. I know many 8th grade lacrosse families on a very strong club team all vying for future roster spots. The future is bright with this program.

Do the opponents really matter? Just going to be an unbroken line of Ws regardless of the opponent.

VEL Games: running clock.... no penalities... still playing Federation rules... not NCAA rules... teams are coached by parent volunteers..

VEL or any fall ball or winter box league is great for keeping stick skills on point, maintaining conditioning levels and most importantly building camaraderie amongst players.

Fall ball or winter ball results truly are not indicative of what will take place in the Spring.

Case and point, Riverside was hammered by Gonzaga last Spring (game was over mid way through the 2nd quarter) and Gonzaga stunk last year.

Would Riverside beat Bishop Ireton or O'Connell or Ryken or Good Counsel, they probably would.

They can complete they are the 6A State* Champs. Parents should recognize. Only as a public school the parents should know not any one can attend you have to live in the right code.

*public school. Cannot compete with privates.

They beat PVI in VEL league.

Sure they can. Would beat Potomac, Flint Hill, O'Connell, Ireton, SMR, etc. They'd would have given St. Alban's and Episcopal good games. This year they'll have another good team but I think they are in trouble in goal. Riverside would beat all but the top 4 in each of the WCAC and IAC.

Would beat Potomac, Flint Hill, O'Connell, Ireton, SMR, etc - yes ok.
They'd would have given St. Alban's and Episcopal good games - nope.
