Personally, I would ask for a copy of my DC's AAP file. Depending on the GBRS I would think about appealing. If it's rather low (less than 8?), then I may think twice before shelling out $380 for a WISC. If it's pretty good, then I would most likely appeal after getting the WISC. I'd hate to put together whole new set of work samples, awards, recommendation letters (since I already did it and it wasn't fun), but I'd have to do it if I wanted to appeal - unless of course the WISC score is pretty high. Seems like that's what trumps it all. No I don't like how it's done, but that's what I would do in your situation. Good luck.

If you want DC to get in, submit outside testing.

That's part of what drives parents crazy - this gaming of the system. But that's how it's done, so I'm telling you.

My daughter got 149 in NNAT and 128 in COGAT and we are not sure about the GBRS that provided by the school teacher.
But today we got letter saying my daughter didn't get picked in GT program for 2016-17,

What are my options? I know we have option appeal the decision,
Could some one give me an idea
What information I need to appeal?
Do my daughter need to go for additional tests to prove?
Does it help to get into GT if we appeal?

Second grade teacher; the only GBRS is the one submitted by the committee during the2d grade screening process this month.

I believe the GBRS With Commentary is submitted but not just the GBRS.

depends where you got the WISC, some of these for-profit testers are viewed with skepticism

Previous posters have indicated that last year a 128 was what one needed on the WISC. A 136 on an IQ test is very high.

I'd say 140+ is definite, 130+ has a high likelihood and 120-139 is possible with a strong file. No facts to back it up, just my impression.

For purposes of this discussion - acceptance into AAP - a 115 bombing it. For other purposes, maybe not.
