FVU still trains 3 time a week for 1:15 in a small field shared with Vienna?
This is their Achilles heel. Facilities.
2 teams train on an 11 v 11 field. The have shared Quantum with Vienna approximately five times that I can remember and it was only due to rescheduled or relocated one offs. If you are going to troll at least get your lies straight.
Consistent field access in Fairfax County is a challenge for all clubs due to permit limits, high demand, and county scheduling rules. That translates to practice schedules that look limited compared to areas with more dedicated turf complexes or less competition for space.
Union's practice schedule is shorter and less frequent when compared to its competition, but it's simply the reality of field availability within the county’s permitting framework.
It sounds like a reasonable explanation until you realize how much Arlington practices over the winter. Snow or no snow.
It’s likely that Arlington Soccer has worked / lobbied the Arlington County Board and built a good relationship with them to invest in soccer in the county. But they are the only high profile soccer club in the county so they could do that. FVU started as McLean and Vienna and BRYC — too many players to go lobby the Fairfax County Board in any unified way for FVU to secure fields and priority. And then when they lost McLean fields well… The facilities are not their fault but what kid would actively chose their facilities over the rival clubs who have greater access? Practicing 4 times a week for 1.5 hours adds up over time over a 3 times a week for 1.15 hours. You get better at soccer by playing more.
Arlington has great facilities. But also crowded with lotss of teams on same field.
none of the clubs honor their pathways. There is one club with a name that is an oxymoron. Parents still $hell out $$ in buckets of hopium.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:If y'all don't want to come to FVU, don't come to FVU. Plenty of other GA options (4 in Leesburg, VA alone!!). Or you can pop up to an ECNL team up north (or south) and be the 22nd person on the roster and get cut from showcase travel.
FVU will be fine.
Yes, like the mighty cockroach FVU will be fine. What will be interesting to see is if the tryouts give out offers to outside their feeder clubs. I hear the feeder club coaches were pushing their players on FVU, but there was resistance and an interest from FVU to take outside players.
please share us your secrets elder sideline watcher. How did you survive. How much work did you put in vs the club. And do you really think the staff would bad mouth your kid? Asking for a friend. Said the ringleader over at FVU.
FVU needs to come up with FVU RL to help with finances. Seems like they can’t afford showcases. Add that to the to poor boys program and you get a recipe for disaster. Just a matter of time before that ECNL program gets pulled off.
FVU is a disaster. The girls who went there this past year realize it, and the girls who are going there for next year will soon realize it. The boys have always been a disaster. Brave 2.0
100% agree. In VA there are 3 legitimate ECNL teams Arlington, VDA and RU. That Fairfax club only carries the badge and with MV, there 0 exposure. Just wait and see next year.
FVU is so cooked, their leadership is atrocious. They're just hanging on because they still have an ECNL badge (for now), but the same terrible foundation that was Brave.
No, they'll be fine. Once Arlington goes MLSN/GA next year, then there are only 2 ECNL clubs left in the area. VDA can't absorb everyone. FVU will be just fine. People have been predicting their demise for a long time. Much like a cockroach in a nuclear blast they will survive.
Trust me they won’t. Being an ECNL team that does not go to showcases is pointless. I better take my DD to a top GA team than trusting MV and co to get me exposure. Sorry.

Yeah no excuses for FVU, I've seen Arlington teams train in a parking garage
