The betting market has the over/under at Nov 15 with less than 20% of betters thinking it will go into Dec, so your coworkers are pretty pessimistic.

The Senate has a vote today on the same CR, I think.

It is not their job to do that.
You failed 5th grade???? Republicans have the Majority in both Houses. Dems don't have to do a dam thing.
And BS you are a Democrat.
Different democrat here. And whether you like it or not, it’s Dem no votes that have blocked opening the government at this point.
There are multiple ways to “open the government”. One way is for the Republicans — the majority party in both the House and the Senate — to vote to open it. Heck, the House hasn’t even met as a group to discuss it in weeks. The Republicans would like their plan to withhold food benefits from people who need them to force the Democrats to stop pushing for affordable healthcare. Starve or suffer. The Republican Party of “family values” is spending our tax dollars on breaks for the already wealthy. That’s not what most Americans want or value.
I’m sure you’re trying, but it’s obvious that you’re lying about your party affiliation. Details matter.
No, my party affiliation is stated accurately. I’m just not a hyper partisan like you.
There is no Republican Party it’s party of Putin liars and criminals anti American
And what does that have to do with some democrats saying the Dems should vote to open the government?
Nothing.
No matter what that op says, I did write my senators for them to vote to open and I AM a Maryland Dem. It is time to reopen.
Me too. I called both senators and told them my opinion. I ask what is their exit strategy. Their staffs have no acceptable answers. I am dumbfounded. The democrats lost this battle and federal employees and the American people are the ones that are suffering. It is disgraceful that federal employees are in food pantry lines and do not have funds to pay their bills. It has been over a month, they need to reopen this week.
Is this true though? The American people clearly don’t give two craps about federal employees but are somewhat concerned about the government shutdown. The Republicans control the government and this looks pretty bad for them. Overall, despite the lack of organization this is a win for the democrats. It’s at federal employee expense that’s all.
DP but are people concerned about the shutdown? I only had one friend out of DC area who asked me how I was doing with the shutdown. I am not sure others even know what is going on.
