Lack of officials is the primary driver for the slow-roll on rule changes in DMV per WLUA. Plenty of schools, coaches and players want it.

I’m not I understand. The boys have a shot clock and there are still only two refs. At my sons school, a kid/manager runs the score board so even if they are “certified”, they are not a full blown ref. Why is the ref thing stopping the girls from getting the shot clock?

The level of talent on the DMV teams is impressive. I don't think WaPo should be including AA and HoCo teams in their rankings because they don't play in the same leagues. The biggest difference I have noticed between the IAAM teams and the DMV teams is there seems to be a better distribution of talent than exists in the IAAM. The difference between the top 5 and the rest of the IAAM is pretty wide. I would prefer to have more good teams like you have in the DMV.

I don't know the level of coaching in the DMV but the top IAAM teams have great coaches that players travel long distances to play for. This forum makes it seem the opposite exists in the DMV. That's unfortunate for the girls if true.

There are girls in the DMV now that are playing at schools in the IAAM and are big contributors. There is a rumor (emphasize RUMOR) that one of the best 26 attackers in the DMV is seriously pursuing transferring to an IAAM school. This comes from multiple parents and players on her club team. I don't know if it will happen. I hope for the same of lacrosse in the DMV that she doesn't. Note-she wouldn't be taking my daughters place so don't assume that. I just think the schools in the DMV will be diminished when any of the girls look north for greener pastures.

I really hope the DMV leagues adopt the shot clock sooner rather than later. Two years into it being used in the IAAM and the tempo and athleticism of the games has changed completely. They also adopted the rule of allowing defenders to run through the crease which has eliminated crease dodging from behind. Combined, these two changes have made offense more up tempo, all but eliminated stalling, and made coaches be more creative in offensive schemes. Ball movement has increased importance over strict dodge based offense. Defenses have had to adjust as well. The goals per game haven't gone up but the action has.

I hope the coaches in the IAAM continue to schedule games against teams in the DMV.

Get more refs, have more rules. Simple as that.

It's poor form to dive-bomb w/ player-based rumors. That said, the HS transfer portal is always open.

From one of the top 5 there to one of the top 5 in the IAAM. It wouldn't make sense to go to any of the teams outside the top 5. Not trying to be coy. Just not sure of it is 100% accurate.

Looks like Maret upset Sidwell in the Semis of the DC State event to face Visi this weekend in the Final. Frogs vs. the Cubs in the Final.

Especially when most of them were on JV last year and most 8th graders here don't get that opportunity
