It wasn't hard to figure out that Thompson would have to leave his hotel at a certain time to walk to the meeting site before it started. All he had to do is wait

But he shot him in the back. It is quite difficult to recognize someone definitively from behind. That is not a mistake an assassin would would wish to make. Makes me think there was someone inside telling the killer that the target was coming out of the hotel then.

I saw two LE analysts, one FBI and one USMS, on TV this morning and they were both pretty adamant the shooter is not a professional.

Honest question. It seems to be a combination of all three. I think it might be mostly boredom though. I don't see a lot of 60+ year old people (the ones who generally are dealing with severe medical issues) cheering on his execution. It seems to be mostly Gen-Z too-online types a la Taylor Lorenz.
