You and I both know that the media is complicit (and there’s a non-zero chance that some of them have been involved in these alleged orgies) and will never ask these questions of Republicans.

+1 The Santos situation continuing had an affect on the other Republican freshmen in New York whose elections were crucial to flipping the House. They were hearing about him constantly from constituents so they needed him gone.

Most of the House GOP HATES Gaetz, DeSantis would schedule a very prompt special election, and his seat is not going to flip. I still wouldn’t be surprised if they did it.
They need his vote which Trump's their hatred. McCarthy could pull some strings and do damage.
