Seems Arlington parents are pretty confident going into next year. That's great but do any of you really think you are on the same level as Loudoun?
I firmly stick by my feelings about FCV. The only thing that could change that is if the play-ups come back on age and we all know that is not going to happen.
VDA is the only big question as to what kind of player pool they were able to get, I honestly don't know but they usually have strong teams moving into 11v11.
As for Maryland, Pipeline took the top Baltimore Union Players and the best Celtic players went to Baltimore Armour. So yes, Celtic Union GA is going to struggle. Baltimore Armour will be the top GA team in the DMV.
Metro will be middle of the pack, again, pending the current '09 play-ups. If those players do not play on age, Metro could very well be below FCV. Great Falls did not have a great season and I do not know how many are making the change to Metro or moving to other Clubs.
Prediction:
1. Loudoun ECNL
2. Bethesda ECNL
3. Virginia Union ECNL (McLean)
4. Pipeline ECNL
5. VDA ECNL
6. Baltimore Armour GA
7. Arlington ECNL
8. Coppermine Premier
9. VYS
10. PPA Green
11. MD United ECNL
12. Metro United GA
13. Loudoun Red
14. FC Virginia GA
15. Celtic Union GA
Feel free to post your own prediction.

Bethesda had some poor results this fall. Arlington is clearly the second best team around.

That is an extremely shallow point to make. Taking one game and measuring how good a team is just by that. Just how shallow, by that measurement, the WFT is one of the best teams in the NFL since they beat the Buccaneers. Or, Crystal Palace must be better than Man City after they won earlier this year. Same but different. Very very weak argument. I could make an example out of every league, in every sport on almost every age group if we were to only use one common factor. This is also why almost every top league, pro or amateur, has a strength of schedule value and some type of power ranking.
Loudoun is the best team in the DMV until proven otherwise. Bethesda has played the toughest schedule. Arlington has played the easiest schedule. These are all facts. Sorry, it's really not up for discussion. I'm guessing we'll see the same until next season until player movement once again happens. And who knows, maybe we'll see some interesting match ups at Jeff Cup if Arlington goes. I remember the results at last years' Jeff Cup final. Do you?

The 2009 Arlington Super Y (ECNL) team played up a year in 2008 going 1-2 with 6 GF to 9 GA. Arlington beat the mighty 2008 NVSC team 3-2 which has a lower rating than the 2009 Loudoun RED RL team. They did play Internationals ECNL which is very good, but it showed with a 6-1 loss. Internationals 2008 ECNL is rated identical to the #2 2009 Matchfit ECNL team. They finished up with a 2-1 win over Crystal Lake Force who is rated between VYS and FCV GA 2009 teams.
The Bethesda Super Y (ECNL) team played on age going 5-0 with 21 GF to 1 GA. It started with a 5-1 win over Liverpool ECNL who also had the starting forward and goalie for Michigan Hawks. Liverpool is currently rated similar to SYC Blue Academy without those players. Second was Next Level, a team rated slightly above Loudoun RED RL, a 4-0 win Third, Bethesda won 7-0 over Wisconsin Rush, slighty higher than SYC Blue. Semis were a win over Virginia Union Composite, some it's top ECNL Players, a girl who plays for 2009 Alexandria MLS Next, and other good 2009s, win 2-0. Finals were against #46 rated Evolution Mercurial Complete team where Bethesda came out on top 3-0. Evolution Mercurial is currently rated only two spots behind Arlington 2009 ECNL team.
So, that is what you need to know about Super Y Finals. Make of it whatever you want. One thing we can all agree on is that the level of competition with the exception of a very few teams, was less than stellar. To spend that kind of money to go this tournament is absolutely absurd. Maybe one or two teams from each age group would make the top two divisions at Jefferson Cup only.
Now, anyone care to discuss how the 2009 FC Virginia team is feeling after going to California for it's first time?
So you're saying that Bethesda won a "National" title by having to go all the way to Florida to beat teams mostly that are equivalent to local ECNL-R teams?

Anonymous wrote:DMV should be happy to have both Loudoun and Bethesda not to mention Pipeline and Arlington.
Loudoun #1 in Mid-Atlantic ECNL with a good chance of making it to ECNL Finals IMO.
Bethesda just won Super Y Nationals going 21 GF to 1 GA. I know some of the competition is mediocre but the team they beat in the final 3-0 is Nationally ranked at #44.
Instead of attacking competing clubs, you should re-evaluate your approach. The better our local teams do, the better it is for everyone.
