Would fly everywhere but New York, usually I take the Acela for that trip but open to flying if that is somehow less risky. My company has encouraged us to rethink "non-essential" travel and says they'll support anyone who feels comfortable traveling right now but leadership seems to consider client travel essential. Feeling very stuck and put in an unnecessarily risky position right now.

The Dean of students wrote all parents and students three days ago urging all students not to fly overseas or go to places in the US with outbreaks per CDC suggestions and enclosed the CZdC guidelines. She has to work on her senior thesis anyhow. We may drive down to see her.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I wouldn’t cruise at this point. Why take the risk of being stuck on board for weeks? Yikes.
As for other travel, it’s recommended to cease non essential travel not bc of danger to yourself but to avoid spreading. The more we can cut down on the movement of people the more we can try and slow this thing and buy some time.
But they NEEEED to GOOOOO.![]()
Your point is correct and clear. But for most people, it’s blame everyone else in government and then go do what you want to do.
The only thing I HAVE to do is pick up my kid for spring college break. I will drive, go to quiet, out of the way rest stops, and hope like heck they kill the rest of the semester.
My guess is my husband in tech ends up working from home. At that point, I go stay with my sister near my kid until they kill the semester so I can get there fast. I’m betting the college closes early.
Are they keeping dorms open? My kid goes to a different university and dorms close for the major breaks.

When did you book the flight? American is currently offering "change fees waived" for flights booked during a certain time. They might not refund you, but could possibly waive any change fees so you could use the credit towards "move in weekend" or "parents weekend" or something. It's definitely worth calling and asking.
I saw that notice unfortunately I booked before March since I was trying to get a good fare and not wait too long. That sure backfired. I might try calling but I can’t see them trying to help me out:
