There will be Moore stories.

Um, all Democrats?

The primary accuser is a Trump voter.

Can you please post the source of that?

It is in the big Post article that has been referenced 1,000 times in this thread. Maybe you should finally read it?

WaPo isn't exactly known to be objective, you know.

This morning I saw on Good Morning America an interview with the NYT reporter who broke the sex abuse scandal with the SNL comedian. Ms Buckley (NYT) said it was important to first have a paper trail before going public with the allegations, especially for any allegations that are decades old.

But WaPo doesn't care? Interesting.

Was Moore's opponent trailing in the polling,
by any chance?

Objectivity is less important than being factual. The facts reported in the article are very solid. That’s why nobody other than Moore is arguing that the story is false. His supporters in Alabama are essentially conceding the facts and resorting to biblical justifications.

Most people I hear are saying:
"IF its true, he should step down."

I'd like to see the kind of paper trail The New York Times produces for its readers. What's wrong with The Washington Post? They hate Republicans. No one here is surprised about that.

His opponent must have been getting desperate.

A) you’re discussing an article you haven’t read.
B) without reading it, you’re comparing it to a different article in a different newspaper which you also haven’t read, but you saw something about it on TV.
C) the PP right before you pointed out the paper trail, which you would have known about if you read the article in question.
D) of course Moore’s opponent is trailing because Alabama.
E) please show yourself out.

Yes, it is. Have you read the article? Or are you afraid of the cognitive dissonance?

How do you live with yourself, defending a pedophile pervert?

Haven't seen everything on this story,
but is there a paper trail to the woman's allegations?

I'd think this would be important.

There are records showing the date the mother was in court and the location of the hearing, and there is a courthouse directory showing the location of his office down the hall from that courtroom. Two contemporaneous pieces of paper to corroborate the witness testimony.

i don't mean those records exist in theory. I mean the reporters tracked them down already and used them to verify the witness stories before publishing. They have already found the paper trail.

The two were in the same building? Ok. That's not a paper trail of anything, except they were in the same building. And that's it??

Amazing!

The Washington Post story has 30 sources and 4 women on the record. These women have nothing to gain and are coming forward in a state where a Gov. Bentley can survive a tape depicting bad behavior and a Speaker of the House can be indicted on two dozen counts and be given protection by the Republican establishment.
A lot of corruption in Alabama politics.
Amazing to think that people accuse Washington DC of being a swamp.

Republican response in Alabama

"Other than being with an underage person - he didn't really force himself," Alabama Geneva County GOP chairman Riley Seibenhener tells me. "I know that's bad enough, but I don't know. If he withdraws, it's five weeks to the election...that would concede it to the Democrat." "I know that 14-year-olds don't make good decisions," he adds.

"Yeah!" Covington County GOP Chairman William Blocker tells me he'd consider voting Moore even if hard proof of sexual abuse emerged.
"There is NO option to support to support Doug Jones, the Democratic nominee. When you do that, you are supporting the entire Democrat party."

"If they said she was a Hillary supporter, then she'd be more dismissed by the local voters here in the state of Alabama. You'd have to paint her as a Trump supporter to be of any credibility," Covington County GOP Chairman William Blocker says.

Alabama Covington County GOP Chairman William Blocker tells me Democrats convinced these women to tell a fake story to damage Moore.
I told him the 14-year-old became a Trump voter.
"That's the typical background or profile of somebody they would be using for that," he said.

Me: "The story said she said he tried to get her to touch his genitals." Hall: "Well, she said he may have TRIED to. But we're talking something that somebody SAID happened, 40 years ago. It wouldn't affect whether or not I'd vote for him." More Hall: “The other women that they’re using to corrobrate: number one, one was 19, one was 17, one was 16. There’s nothing wrong with a 30-year-old single male asking a 19-year-old, a 17-year-old, or a 16-year-old out on a date."

Jerry Pow suggested his support for Moore would not unwaver so long it was for the greater good of the party. "I would vote for Judge Moore because I wouldn't want to vote for [Democratic nominee Doug Jones]," Pow said, according to Dale. "I'm not saying I support what he did."

Alabama journalists say that rumors about Moore's pedophilia circulated for years.

1+. This is what I heard too--not quite an open secret, but hardly a surprise. I think it seems clearly the case given that his supporters are turning to the bible and rationalizations instead of just denying or scoffing that it is ridiculous. But I hope the WaPo and other media keep digging...

She told friends about it right after it happened and told her mother some years later and they have comfirmed her account. And she has not changed the details of her story over numerous discussions with the reporter.

That sounds convincing to me. Why would all these people lie? This woman voted for Trump. Why would she make herself vulnerable to attacks from Moore apologists by telling a lie?

+1.

I am a 41 year old working mom of two. I can't imagine how humiliating it would be to come out publicly with these experiences. I don't want my community, neighbors, parents and teachers at school, people I work with, my FIL, etc. thinking about me being groped at age 14. And wondering how that affected me. Wondering if how it affected my sexuality...I mean, women don't revel in coming out with these stories. And knowing that their whole sexual history is going to come out. Some of these women pre-empted the bad press by admitting to other parts of their past. HOW HORRIFYING.

There is no reason, NO REASON not to trust these women.
