Did you all know that the train inside the McDonald's on Rockville Pike is gone?!?! They should have just torn the whole place down, but they made it look upscale instead. I won't be going there anymore!

I was trying to explain all of this to my six year old the other day when she asked what kind of store would you call CVS.

A few weeks ago I was really distracted when talking to my 8 yr old who was telling me we needed more batteries and I said "yeah, ok remind me to get some from People's" I have no idea where that came from because it's been so long since they were called that! She then said to me "What peoples are going to just give you batteries?" I tried to explain what I meant.

Last week, I told her we had to go to Price Club. That's a newer reference for sure but one I just have never been able to break the habit of saying.

People's!!! and Price Club!

LOL! That is hysterical!

Do you remember Pace? I think that was BEFORE Price Club!

I cannot remember which area exactly but it became a lifetime movie. I also remember a young girl (Jennifer or Jessica) disappearing when she went to get potato chips but I don't know is remember if that was local or not.

Don't remember the Jessica/Jennifer incident, but do remember the hired hitman. And yes, I think the family was in Silver Spring. - It became a lifetime movie? If anyone remembers the movie's name, would you post?

I was telling my kids about Drug Fair the other day, how they had everything under the sun, and my kids just got hung up on the name ("Drug FAIR, like it's a fun place to get drugs?". I guess I had never really thought about it before.

I also enjoyed the stores that followed Dart Drugs: F&M and later Fantles. They had a great selection of cosmetics/health and beauty things, and great prices.

Do you remember the petting zoo, too?

Anonymous wrote:I remember . . .

there was a big airplane for children to climb on at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton. I was too small to climb on it, and by the time I was old enough, the plane was gone.

the amazing fall and spring seasons.

when the Mormon temple was built, the air & space museum opened, metro became operational.

I was so little at the time, but have one vague memory of older children talking about Nixon's impeachment while we walked to school.

Yes, I do remember it!

I was 7 in 1980. And again, I am 40, so no spring chicken. Some of you all have memories that make me think you are more like my parents' ages? 60s or so? Not saying that is wrong, I am just curious to see people of this age group on DCUM? Who knew. Oh well. Enjoying reading some of the memories! Thx!

I'm not one of the PPs, but I'm 52 with teenage kids now. That means I was in high school in the late 70s and graduated college in 1982. BTW, I don't consider myself geriatric

I am 50 so graduated from HS in 1979. Luckily I still have my faculties about me and can still remember high school. But 52? That's "pretty old". Or so my children tell me.
