Most of the GOP in that chamber know that the speech was all lies. Look at what Jerry Vance and Marco Rubio said about Trump before they decided to sell their souls. These people are the most craven among us. They know that supporting Trump leads to a meteoric rise in power and money. That's all this is. They care about nobody but themselves.

Not a Trump voter but gas prices are very low right now where I live.

They have crept up since Trump took office, all over the mid-Atlantic. Pretty much all costs have. He's doing nothing to bring prices down and now tariffs and trade war will drive them up even more.

But why wouldn’t you write laws to fix immigration if you control the house and the senate?

Oh that’s right, if they fixed the laws then they won’t have anything to complain about when the democrats are in office.

The GOP controls congress and they have done nothing. They sit back and let Leon run the country.

If you stop incentivizing illegal immigration guess what? People stop doing it.

It is just mind boggling how the Dems are so ineffective on immigration and why they refuse to listen to the public is beyond me. No one wants mass migration that's uncontrolled. Trump then very effectively rubbed it in the Dems' faces by showing you the mothers of murdered daughters killed by illegal immigrants.

Dems need common damn sense when it comes to immigration. Yes, that means tough ICE raids and none of the BS about using asylum to game the system.

Trump is deporting half of the people that Biden did. It’s time that everyone faces the fact that Biden was better in every way, and he wasn’t even that great.

Because you don't need to deport as much if people stop coming in the first place.

Dems cannot deny these numbers:

There was an epic explosion in illegal immigration during Biden's years. It has precipitously crashed in only a few months because we have stopped incentivizing it. It is true, all we needed was a change in will to enforce the law and no more BS games with asylum.

This is exactly what the American public wanted. No idea why Dems are so against stopping illegal immigration.

The numbers were already going down before Biden left. It’s odd you blame him for a global migration crisis.

Trump’s pause on asylum will be eventually stopped by the courts.

Because people could see the election results and knew Trump was coming. Duh.

It's been an even more precipitous drop since he's been in office. It's about 5 times less than under peak Biden.

They are eating it up. “America’s back!” Yada yada. It was gross. And the smirking idiots behind him.

The Biden administration saw the writing on the wall and did something half-assed (and pure optics) to try and get numbers down for the election. People weren’t fooled.

Asylum might get unpaused but perhaps by then we will have something like a Safe Third Country agreement with Mexico in place. And forget about billions of dollars flowing through HHS to these migrants. Won’t be happening.

Right. They are trying to say the republic is about to fail/be irretrievably corrupted/appoint a dictator for life and oh here is the evil evil evil person who is going to destroy the US forever, I know lets hold up little signs, that’s gonna show him.

🙄

So pathetic.

This is why there is a lack of mass protests. Some small ones of course, but they aren’t acting like the house is on fire.

Because nobody other than some DCUMs and NGO lobbyists thinks the house is actually on fire. I don’t think that is right, by the way. But it is true.

He’s tanking the economy and turning us into an international menace. It doesn’t matter what Democrats say, or Trans, or DEI. Once Grandma has to move home because Medicaid is raided, Republicans are going to get kicked to the curb.
Nobody votes “for” a party - they vote to punish the screw ups of the incumbent. And Trump is making a lot of screw ups.

Grandma is on Medicare not Medicaid.

If she is in a nursing home long term she is on Medicaid

The PP isn't taking into account how this administration presents the data. They now only report encounters. That is very different than the number coming in.

That "speech" was a complete embarrassment for the entire world to witness. I'm ashamed that my fellow Americans voted for this con man. The GOP sitting in the audience are the worst offenders because they know better. It's all so gross.
