FYI not a Trump supporter
She always looks really good, IMO. To Trump's credit, yes, she did actually look elegant on Christmas Eve.
My theory about Melanie stands. She has more power than people think. In the past year, if not longer, she has always dressed differently from the other Trump women (related ones and/or associated ones). She has been wearing a lot of pants and suits, for example. If you compare her style to the others, you can see she is tailored, using mostly (not all) color tones that work with her coloring, and is one of the few I have seen wearing pants rather consistently.
There was a great article that talked about this in relation to Hope Hicks years ago during the first admin. I'll see if I can find it. The author noted that when Hope first started working for Trump during the campaign, she mimicked Ivanka's "Barbie Goes to DC" style. Lots of A-line dresses and girlish details like ruffles and bows. Ivanka still had a fashion line at this point and Hope wore a lot of her designs.
Once she got more power, she started dressing more like Melania. Stilettos instead of Mary Jane block heels, more solids than floral prints, and who can forget that Ralph Lauren tuxedo at the state dinner. The author's point was that Hope was important enough to Trump that she didn't have to follow the typical girlish fashions that Trump likes on women. She had amassed as much power as Melania, so he would overlook her wearing pants.
Interesting to me that the women in Trump's inner-inner orbit are the ones with the best style. Melania, Hope, Ivanka, Bettina, Vanessa. It's the ones who are just in his professional orbit and want to be liked by him who get the shitty plastic surgery, spackle on makeup, and dress in Temu knockoffs.
Side note I googled Hope to see what she's up to and she's running Megyn Kelly's shitty podcast company. And engaged to a geriatric. Go figure.
