Rational is subjective. To Trump and the right, the only rational explanation is it was carried lut by the left. They just can't deal with the possibility that it was their own who killed Kirk.
Gov Cox (not exactly Mr MAGA) who is leading the investigation said the killer was indoctrinated online by leftist ideology on every Sunday show. How was he one of their own?
Did he specify what "leftist ideology" meant or just keep repeating that phrase. Who/what was the group indoctrinating him? Where is this leftist group that supports assassination as a way to solve problems?
More likely this guy is a product of nihilistic online gaming culture that draws from extreme views on both sides, but that won't suit the Trump narrative. Who knows. But parroting this stuff until they can get words from the shooter is dangerous right now. Especially when you have the POTUS and other GOP politicians talking about retribution against Democrats. Irresponsible. It would have been fine to say we aren't sure yet.
Blackpilling, nihilism and accelerationism toward a civil war (along with actions to try and bring us there) are things that a certain segment of right wing online subculture and right wing groups like Boogaloo Boys and Groyper Army are all about. They are destroyers, whereas Charlie Kirk and his ilk are on a different right wing path, of remaking America in Christian Nationalism.
Cox seems naive, he comes off more like a boomer than someone in his 50s, and he doesn't seem aware of the depth and breadth and varying, often opposing viewpoints and ideations in online right wing subcultures.
Is there even room for Mormons in a Christian Nationalist America, or do they get persecuted too?
This is a great point. My evangelical family members would say 100% that Mormons are going to hell as they do not believe in the one, true God.

I just read an article that investigators are pointing to gaming and the dark internet subculture as the source of that indoctrination. Even Cox recently made that reference. It doesn’t seem unlikely that they misunderstood the nature of the radicalization early on by thinking in conventional terms (investigators probably understood). Hopefully the poster who was celebrating yesterday about wasting “350 pages” on the topic sticks around.
The governor cited Reddit as an example of the deep, dark internet. He has no idea what he’s talking about.
I get where you're coming from, but if you go full circle, Reddit is like a lounge for the freaks that live online. It isn't where they discuss assassination plots, but it is most definitely where they go to circle jerk and echo chamber. Spend any time on the DC sub and you'll quickly see you aren't one of the cool kids unless you drink the kool aid of bike lanes, mass transit, all things gay and black and on and on with all the predictables.
LOL, equating a more positive and sustainable urban built environment with the dark corners of reddit and discord.
Way to miss the point.
I must have missed the point, too. Are you saying that when people talk about being radicalized by Leftist ideology, they’re referring to things like bike lanes and mass transit?

Nah, not missing the point. You are willfully trying to equate Nick Fuentes with "leftist" urban aims.

This is what happened to many people in Hitler's Germany too. People stood by and did nothing as he went after what they thought were their common enemies, whether socialists, trade unionists, jews, etc, but then when Hitler came after them there weren't enough people in opposition left to help stop Hitler.

So far we have some facts:
*Charlie Kirk was hated by people on left and right
*Robinson grew up in a a deeply conservative family, in a deeply conservative area, with knowledge and access to guns from a very young age
*Robinson attended a very conservative college for a year and then dropped out and moved back to home town
*Robinson spent most of his time gaming and interacting with a world that is heavily influenced by the alt-right
These are the facts that stand out to me. Even if his romantic partner is trans, even if he hated Charlie Kirk for anti-trans comments, the above facts are formative parts of this story.
The bolded is a feature, not a bug of the alt right. The furries and what not. People need to understand this to understand the world the shooter was living in.
I came back to this thread to see if posters here were still insisting the shooter was absolutely a hard right extremist when the evidence all seems to be piling up on the other side of that narrative. You really have to want this to be the answer to continue unequivocally pushing it. Anyone without an agenda would at least be saying the picture is unclear at this point. Your credibility is fading.

Yes, it is Kesh Patel flooding the zone with BS to muddy the waters on the actual facts that are known to date.
The irony here is that there would have been no place for Kash Patel in Charlie Kirk's Christian Nationalist America either. He's a Hindu, he got sworn in to office with a copy of the Bhagavad Gita instead of a Bible.
