How do you know this if the new head hasn’t even started yet?

It appears he is coming from a very progressive / liberal school similar to a GDS, a school that doesn’t appear to really value offering competitive athletic programs.

It will be interesting to see if Bullis athletics scales back to once it was 10 years ago.

I do think the days of bringing in senior transfers for a fall to play football for one season and then leave are gone.

He’s got a very different style and approach from the current Head.

Bullis does something in athletics that most of the other IAC and MAC schools do not do - which is take upperclass transfers, including seniors, who are proven outstanding athletes. Sometimes Bullis has them repeat a grade. Episcopal does that too. See Bullis' football and track teams.

I know of kids who go there that are definitely good athletes but not "get free private school" good....

Are they paying?

Do they pay for them with other kids tuition? That would seemingly cause some friction.

You are worried about the wrong stuff. Worry about what you are getting. Sounds like you are looking for a reason to hate on someone else. If you feel like your family is paying too much, don’t send your kid there. And stay out of other people’s business

Because we are considering the school?!? Visiting only gives you the view that any school wants you to see. I would not base a decision solely on anonymous DCUM posts, but I have found enough sensible responses and insightful commentary to feel like I have a better sense of the good and bad.

If you find this so bizarre then perhaps you should stop reading the thread.

Totally agree - they also are obsessed with trashing Georgetown Prep. I’m sure Churchill is perfect...

To the pp who keeps saying the new Head will change Bullis: please share more information. What will he change? How are you so certain?

The new Head will change things for sure, but it will take time.

Who is the new head? Was considering for non-athletic son for DS, but have been told (subtly and otherwise) it’s probably not a great environment for him. But if a new head is coming in, maybe that would change.

And just FYI before people attack me. My DD didn’t have as many options as my son. She isn’t as strong a student. We thought Bullis was a perfect fit academically. I still believe the teachers are good and truly care. It is the social aspect and the obsession with atheltics which is a turn off for her. Kids often ask her what sport she is there for and surprised when she says she doesn’t do a sport. The lunch room scene is really out of control.
