I read a lot of stuff from conservative Christians who are "encouraging" people to forgive Josh because "we're all sinners." Can someone please explain this line of thinking to me? He molested 5 young girls. He didn't make a "mistake", and he is far worse than just a sinner. Would they be crying for forgiveness if it was their 9 year old daughter and a 14 year old boy from up the street? I hope not.

I don't know if I would because I doubt anything really changed. This event will bring them closer to God. They will need to do more praying and Bible readings. I don't expect anything will change in the long run.

All that time the Duggar mom and dad talked about protecting their young girls' 'hearts' by keeping them pure should have been spent protecting their young girls' bodies from a son who was clearly a danger to them. I understand them wanting to help their son, but they could have done so while still protecting their daughters -- firstly to take Josh out of the house and secondly to let the girls talk PRIVATELY to outside parties to discuss how they felt. The fact that they let this go on for a year (at least ages 14 and 15) shows the value they put on their girls' 'protection'. Girls this young are not in a position to forgive a predator. That is the point -- they are CHILDREN. You don't ask the children for forgiveness of molestation. In the interest of protecting their sons they have completely dismissed the safety and emotional security of their girls.

And there's a broad valley between reproducing wantonly and regulating the number of children - most people do a fine job of finding the sweet spot for their family. If you want to see "disastrous results" regarding reproductive rights regulations, you could do a little research on what happened in Romania when they outlawed abortion and birth control. I sense you think this would be a good thing. And for pete's sake, as you fundies try to strip reproductive rights from women, your concern trolling about sex selective abortions is laughable.
