I couldn't remember Red Sage, but it was upthread. Boy did I feel fancy going there as a young post-undergrad from the Midwest. https://www.washingtonian.com/2006/12/14/rip-red-sage/

I lost track of how many 3 AM meals I had at Au Pied, then would walk home. https://ghostsofdc.org/2012/01/23/au-pied-de-cochon-georgetown/

Anyone remember Anatolia on the Hill? I loved that place.

They made the best goat cheese gnocchi dish! And chocolate cake with raspberry coulis. I got that recipe from one of the chef’s books and make it for parties sometimes, it’s divine.

I read all the way through this very old thread and was shocked that no one mentioned Cafe Deluxe near the Cathedral. It was packed day and night until the landlord kicked everyone on that strip out. And it's still vacant. What a waste.

My first thought as well. TenPenh was awesome! I am still devastated.

Yes! We went to the Tysons location when they tried to revive it a few years ago. It was not the same. Had a couple wonderful dates there with my now husband.

Another vote for Chi Chis fried ice cream. I still look for that on American menus and rarely anyone does it now.

Has anyone mentioned Timpano’s that used to be on Rockville Pike? So many great meals in that place.
