In denying their request to expand the PCSB states "As the school has been open for less than a year, there is no performance data on the school. There is, however, some troubling early data that leads staff to recommend not increasing the school’s enrollment ceiling at this time. This includes high levels of mid-year withdrawals and low levels of special education students. The school has also been non-compliant in responding to certain PCSB data requests, including a City Council request for salary information."

Folks the place is a lemon....they're trying to sell a "BMW" with a third class motor. Go to Deal, Washington Latin, which ever but forget about this place. This school generates too much controvesy left and right....why take the risk with your kids.

Get your facts straight. The board also turned down Creative Minds' request for an increase at the same meeting citing that the school is still new as a reason. I have heard it is normal for the board to turn down a new school's request for increases in enrollment. They also approved some schools that clearly do not meet the needs of all DC students such as Carlos Rosario which caters to adult students.

Tell ya what.
Why don't YOU go out and open a charter school of your own to serve whatever needs it is you think are going unmet, to serve whatever model you think is so perfect, and just LEAVE everyone else alone. The rest of us really do not share your over-the-top agitation and hysterics over this.

Sorry but the reality of BASIS DC is that they are every bit as much on track for as stellar of a record as they earned in Arizona given the fact that they are already beating out all other DC schools in academic competitions, for example sweeping the Science Bowl and Letters About Literature competitions in just the last month alone.
The only "controversy" is that they set the bar high. Higher than the low-performing educational establishment in DC is used to, and as such they feel threatened by it.
