Different democrat here. And whether you like it or not, it’s Dem no votes that have blocked opening the government at this point.
There are multiple ways to “open the government”. One way is for the Republicans — the majority party in both the House and the Senate — to vote to open it. Heck, the House hasn’t even met as a group to discuss it in weeks. The Republicans would like their plan to withhold food benefits from people who need them to force the Democrats to stop pushing for affordable healthcare. Starve or suffer. The Republican Party of “family values” is spending our tax dollars on breaks for the already wealthy. That’s not what most Americans want or value.

The reason 60 votes are needed is to encourage legislation that is palatable to both parties. Repubs refuse to put forward anything that isn't their way or the highway. Rs can re-open by ending the filibuster (because clearly they don't want to negotiate anyhow) or putting forward a bill that enough Dems will vote for. Those are their options.

I'm sure many feds are still donating despite not getting a paycheck. My family is. We'll have to turn off our cash donations pretty soon, though.
Federal employees (both nationally and in DC) used to routinely be among the most generous donors to charity. It's less measurable now that people donate directly instead of using CFC for payroll deduction, but anecdotally a lot of feds are both cash donors and volunteers for multiple charity groups. Cutting those donations will be yet another effect of this shutdown and the administration generally.

We’re in a shutdown, that’s why they have minimal staff.

Also historically a Democrat, and I have contacted Kaine, Warner, and Walkinshaw multiple times in support for the clean CR. They DO NOT CARE what we have to say. Warner and Kaine don’t even have staff answering the phones.
