Working class New Yorkers overwhelmingly voted for Cuomo. Mamdami was elected by wealthy and some middle class New Yorkers.
When the left talks about working class, we mean anyone who works for a living. There are people who work, and there are people who exploit the labor of others. All other distinctions are distractions meant to divide us.
What matters is that he win the nomination, will hopefully win the election, and will have the opportunity to help working people of NYC.

Wow, he’s an all shock & awe socialist nutjob.
Now we all know, not just New Yorkers.

Raising business taxes by 55% doesn't help if then the businesses leave. Same with the 1%.
Basically, a Catch 22 for NYC.
Or he will get into office and do only a fraction of what he campaigned on, like most politicians.
I think the biggest problem he can cause would be with policing and the police. The mayor has the ability to install the chief of police. NYC was cleaned up in part by bringing in very tough chiefs of police. After de Blasio, Adams ran as a former police officer who promised to clean up de Blasio's mess. It's already an uphill battle due to the huge influx of illegal immigrants that have overwhelmed the city's resources, combined with Zero Bail.
NYC is estimated to have a 4.5B deficit by 2027, and that is before any additional spending proposed by Mamdani.

For some reason they want to worry about the one that helps people and not the one that hurts them. I think that’s all we need to know about maga.

Sure, vote him in, see the money and business flee and the rest of the city will be forced to wallow in the mess - again. Then the adults will have to come in and clean up NYC - again.
Except the people paying zero tax and getting “freebies” mostly voted for Cuomo. Maybe for once step back and realize that maybe the upper middle class who overwhelmingly voted for Mamdani want a social safety net for everyone, want to protect the cab drivers and laborers who have built this city and want access to subsidized childcare and and hosting that this rich city is more than capable of providing.
But your lack of empathy and humanity can never make you appreciate this perspective and you would rather continue being a pawn in a billionaires game than wish for a brighter future for our future generation.

That is … interesting. So the hedge fund trader with a $10m upper west side penthouse is now “working class.”
Quite a linguistic tongue twister!
A hedge fund trader is still someone who makes money from exploiting people who do actual jobs. Petite bourgeoisie, or class traitor, if you prefer.

A lot of rich and powerful people would rather back to corrupt mayor than let an anti-establishment candidate win. I am so excited for him but he will be put through the ringer.
Why are Democrats more afraid of Democratic Socialists than MAGA Fascists?

Of course, but it’s going well so far. Democrats have to change the party from within. People haven’t been very excited to decide between republicans and near republicans with a D next to their names.
Mamdani’s win is mostly due to a wonderfully ran campaign, but also due to the general public trying to force the democratic party’s hand. Evolve or get left behind.
