The clubs are trying to maintain or develop their brands and, in a way, your daughter is a means to that end. Your interests may align, but the club is likely playing a much longer game than you. Wil the newer clubs fully establish themselves in the next 29 months that matter most to you? Will Capital lose its muster over the same period? Each of us may find different answers to these questions, but they are exactly the ones that need to be asked and answered.

I was concerned about that as well, but Yellow Jackets has been around for more than two decades. YJMA is based in Nova, and run out of Long Island. It is part of the same and that’s how they get into all of the top recruiting tournaments. College coaches don’t look at the club brand. They go to these tournaments and watch the player. They aren’t hyper focused on the W/L/score. Of course, these are all legit questions to ask of real coaches.

In the same way that colleges and universities serve as a sorting mechanism for employers, high school lacrosse clubs serve as a sorting mechanism for college lacrosse coaches. Sure, there may be clubs on the rise, or players who are diamonds in the rough, but college coaches are naturally going to be attracted to players from the most established clubs because that is where they will expect to find the highest quality players. I wish all the new DC clubs luck building their brands in the area, but it is likely to take way longer than the 29 months between now and September 1, 2027 when the 2029s will start committing to play in college.

If they could convince say the BLC 29s to commit it could work, keeping a solid team together is the best option for development and college coaches see that. You don't need the Capital brand.

They have three confirmed D1 coaches (former YJs) to evaluate playuers and talk about college recruiting. This Friday's clinic is different - it is in N. Bethesda at GP for people to learn more about YJ and if they can't make the Easter Monday tryout they can go to another open practice as well.
