If developers had gone into any local governing body and said: "let's rezone single family neighborhoods so that we can build more dense housing and make more money," they would have been tossed out. the GGW and YIMBY fellow travelers did it for nothing, and the builders are reaping the rewards. Honestly, the developers should at least send them a fruit basket for being such useful idiots.
Developers literally give money to GGW and YIMBY Orgs. Look at the Boards for GGW and the Urban Land Institute (one of the largest donors to GGW). These organizations are stacked with developers.
Two questions-
1. What is the connection between serving on a board and "literally giving money"?
2. Why is it wrong or shady for an organization that is interested in land use to have people on their board who are involved in land use? Do you think they should not have anybody on their board with a background in real estate or land use?
The website literally says many of the board members are donors and the employees from the contributing companies are well represented among board members. These people do not care about anything but boosting their profits. They will gladly destroy our neighborhoods to make a buck. Their talk about equity and social justice is just that. They will advocate for anything as long as boost the profits of developers. It doesn’t matter to them how it harms people as long as they get rich.

Member, works for the University of Maryland, former Prince George's County Council member
Member, works for a non-profit developer of affordable housing
Member, works in the health care industry, used to be in the Army
Member, works for a law firm in commercial real estate
Member, works in political philanthropy (whatever that is)
Member, works as a communications consultant
Member, works as a digital strategist for political campaigns
Member, works at "a not-for-profit real estate organization dedicated to preserving and creating sustainable, service-enriched multifamily housing that is both affordable to low and moderate income families and seniors, and beneficial to their communities."
Member, works at a non-profit that provides free legal and social work services to elderly people in need
Member, has a US Green Building credential
Member, owns a consulting company that advises non-profits
Member, is a lawyer for a firm whose clients are plaintiffs in civil cases
Member, works for Amazon's fund that provides below-market loans and grants for affordable housing for people with moderate to low incomes
Member, works for a consulting firm for real estate, economic development, and program design and implementation
Member, former DC City Council member and former head of two DC departments
They are corrupt and this organization endorses candidates that are captive to the developers.
