Everyone in politics doesn't wear a mask when the cameras are off. I work in a industry where the executives and other talent don't wear masks but the lower level employees do. Clearly the people in charge know something about blowing off mask wearing once you're vaccinated.
Do you know why the lower level people wear masks? Because we don't have the money or status to defend preferential treatment if we get really sick, by some unfortunate chance.
Doctors and higher level executives know they will be more likely to survive than us poor smucks.
So don't wear masks all you want to, and especially don't wear them in pharmacies and grocery stores, and then have the mask mandate slapped back on when cases go up. Smh.
The mask mandate is already coming back despite very few people actually giving them up. The mandate has almost no effect on case rates, and even less on hospitalizations and deaths. Get vaccinated and move on with your lives. At least Stoddard and the council acknowledged that it is time to move past looking at case rates.
Its NOT coming back. MoCo will just change the criteria.
You are fine to move on with your life but many of us would prefer not to get covid and take the risk.
You've said that on quite a few threads (assuming you're the same poster).
What makes you say that? Besides Freidson, none of the county councilmembers have shown any enthusiasm to get rid of the masks. What makes you think they will mobilize in the next 24 hours to change the rules?
Yes, I'm curious too. That poster has popped up on a few threads saying that the rules will change. and they say it with such confidence. Would love some more insight into why they are so confident.
Or, if they are still confident, given that there is only a few hours left for their prediction to come true?
I curious too, given that we are now at 60. What makes me think they are not coming back is that DC is dropping the mandate. Will Montgomery County revise it's plans? Does PG have a mandate?

It’s just nonsense. Heading over to NoVa to shop and eat. Not an antivaxer, not an antimasker. Just someone who believes in the vaccine and understands math and probabilities. Wear a mask if you want, no one is stopping you.
The vaccines work for what they were made for - to lessen the impact on covid for you if you were to catch it. They were never fully intended to stop you from getting covid. It was about reducing symptoms that might lead to death. You still need masks. Covid doesn't just stop existing because you are wishing it away. Covid doesn't stop existing because people choose not to believe they can catch it.
Right. The vaccines do a remarkably good job of turning COVID into basically a cold in vast majority of people. We never masks over colds, or during flu season. It doesn't make sense to keep mandating masks now that everyone over 5 can be vaccinated, and higher risk adults can be boosted.

You're clearly not very familiar with the county council. Why are they meeting virtually if there's no danger?

Montgomery County will likely have a mask mandate again soon.
Plus, really, almost everyone I see in stores is wearing a mask even without a mask mandate. Obviously there are exceptions, but the groups I see who are most likely to be without a mask are (1) white people (2) men (3) white people who are men.
I live in Bethesda and only about 50% of the people in the stores are masking.
Bullsh!t. Absolute bullsh!t.
You are a lying liar.

Case in point.
Those horrible, horrible Bethesda white people! Not masking? Whatever could they know about their own health and vaccine status that we don’t?!
