In the mid-1990s—pre-Google—I knew someone who started a modeling and pageantry business, claiming they had been a Ford model in the 1980s.

It wasn’t a total lie.

When their obituary appeared decades later, enough details emerged to make it clear they’d been a model for their uncle’s local Ford auto dealership.
