Oh god, I don't care. you're right - all DC Councilmembers should collect full living salaries from taxpayers, while fighting for statehood,.combatting rising violence, fighting social ills, supervising park renovations, dealing with education and Covid, answering constituent calls, attending hearing and meetings AND work 2nd jobs. Your first article, from Los Angeles (?) in 1995 (??) is sympathetic to city legislators who have a hard time developing their careers while also serving as legislators. Mary Cheh isn't developing a career, she's already a tenured professor. Maybe you aren't very familiar with academia, but there's really not much work that goes in to teaching the same class year after year.
And 245 years of history tells us that politicians' ethics scandals have very little to do with outside employment.
In any event, you've moved the goalposts all the way from "Mary Cheh should resign her outside work because the pool project is going badly" to "double dipping is uncommon in American civics" and again to "Mary Cheh should resign her outside work because ethics, or something, and here are two articles about Jack Evans." I look forward to seeing where you'll move them next!
