Great video. I love seeing all of the proud veterans and their families.

There were a lot. You can find pics in non-Trump friendly media as well.

What you see here are far-left liberals who are frankly embarrassed because their predictions of doom and of Trump politicizing this event didn't come to fruition.
So, instead of admitting they were wrong, and congratulating him for a patriotic event that went off pretty well considering all the logistics involved, they are looking for petty things to pick at. It's what they do. It has been their MO since before he was elected. And, it is this type of behavior that will likely help lead to his reelection.

The mall is crowded every July 4th.
This.
Some of you might be unaware that we have always celebrated July 4th in a big way in DC. The parade, the much loved Capitol Fourth concert and of course fireworks. People always throng to the Mall on the 4th. It is especially inspiring to read the inscriptions on the Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR and Dr. King memorials. The National Mall is a beloved place for DMV residents
Indeed. Which is why I thought it was asinine that so many of my friends on FB were gleefully posting weather reports and hoping for low turnout and that the day would "be ruined". Can you get any smaller or more shrivelled than that? I hope for their mental health that they take some calming breaths and channel their emotions more positively.
Because Trump tried to take a traditional event that has not been politicized and brand it as his event with the U.S. military as his production team.
Yes, this was the annoying part. We didn't need Trump to have our usual celebration here in DC (which we all love). He made it more partisan and caused a lot of discussion about himself (which he loves to do) when it was totally unnecessary. What was the point of it? Did he make it more enjoyable for anyone? No. Did he cause further divisions instead of unity? Yes. Was it unseemly? Yes, totally. Plus it took 2.5 million away from the national parks budget. It makes me think even less of him (but then again, I agree that other things he has done have been much, much worse so oh, well). Trump has to Trump.
This and also while I was relieved that he read the speechwriter ‘s speech off the TelePrompTer and did not ad lib I am still upset by the focus on the military on Independence Day. July 4th is about the ideals and principles that make us such a special and exceptional country in human history. These are the ideals our great military fights to protect (it is what inspires our military) and they are the greatest source of our strength both internally as well as abroad. It is what distinguishes us from other countries that have strong militaries and/nuclear weapons. July 4 is a day that is normally free of politics and is a joyful celebration of the idea of America. There are other opportunities to honor our wonderful military including Memorial Day. We could also have put on a military show with flyovers etc. to commemorate the DDay anniversary

Wrong. It wasn't politicized at all, but nice try. It was still the same traditional event, but even better.

As you can see from the photo below, the attendance was massive for Salute to America today.

Here's the weird thing . . . there is always a big turnout for the Fourth of July in DC and there is always a parade, fireworks, etc. It is not usually "hosted" by the president as it has always been organized by other groups. I believe that the parade was the same as always. The Capitol Fourth was the same as always. Trump "rebranded" the event by saying "he" hosted it. That was highly offensive to many people since this is not a "hostable" event. It's an event that nobody "owns". It belongs to the people.
OMG. You are ridiculous. IMO, whoever happens to be president is "hosting" the DC Mall celebration. Duh. You people seriously need to grow up. It's like dealing with toddlers.![]()

We saw a couple of groups of protesters, maybe a dozen or so in each group, and their ridiculous chants were quickly drowned out by those nearby yelling “USA” so that the protesters couldn’t be heard. It was great!
Fireworks were so-so because the lack of breeze and high humidity caused the smoke to hang low and limit visibility, but it was still fantastic.
You all missed a great party! Happy Birthday, America!

I watched at home with the kids and thought it was cool to see the planes fly over, especially the stealth bomber.
The speech wasn't too memorable, but it was a nice review of some great american accomplishments and great thank you to the armed forces. All the hate is totally unnecessary, IMHO.

No, it wasn’t. The pictures prove it was a success.
Hmm, the NPS Mall webcam was disabled prior to the event. So I guess there's no official picture...

Could you be a bigger liar?
When you zoom in you can see lots of empty space.
Also many in the the unticketed area were anti-Trumpers. Look for the USS McCAin T-shirts.
