I wonder if the couple coaches that left SYC to LMVSC are reconsidering their decision. Guess what they offered was worth it, but by the sound of it SYC is picking up more than just a few kids if they are adding even more coaches than originally projected.
I do feel bad for Ben and Fabien. They jumped ship and probably didn’t know the s**t show they were signing up for. I put the over under at 2 years and they will be gone from there. Wish they would have stayed with our club with all the positive things that seem to be happening.
Why do you feel bad for them? Is LMVSC as bad as SYC? Honestly, if any positive things are coming to SYC we the parents were not informed. With total coaches replacement, we the parents of original 2009 team feel kind of left in the dark. At try outs we could see new coaches paying more attention to the boys who followed them from LMVSC. That's natural, of course. Probably, would of been nice to talk to the parents after final try out. But they did not.
Instead, they have given some verbal offers to some parents. That's contributes to even more rumors.![]()
Anyway, SYC totally neglected 2009 boys. First season Ben was the only coach for over 30 kids. Parents were coaching at practices, free play and at many games. Second season SYC added a very experienced coach Davey but fired him in four months. SYC totally refused to explain why. Dotty looked us in the eyes and said: Human Resources problem. Total BS and disrespect if you ask me. Replacement, William seems to be invested in coaching. He is energetic. That's positive. Although, he is not as good at coaching during the game as Ben. But he doesn't really know the boys yet. Cannot hold it against him. For the spring session of 2018-19 season they finally added a third coach. With all due respect he just stands there. No wonder we lost 4 boys out of bare minimum 27. So, what's positive is coming to SYC? I really need to know because trying to decide where to go for the next season.
P.S. I think Ben and Fabian left because they don't want to be fired by an email on Saturday night. I am still disgusted by that. Felt so bad for Davey. He moved from Arizona for this job.
Is your son only trying out for SYC? If he is not trying out for LMVSC, then your question is irrelevant, unless you are looking to another local club. If you aren’t happy with your current club, there are plenty of clubs in NoVA.
He got offers from both SYC and LMVSC. That's why I am looking up for the information and need to hear others opinion.

This may be a challenge to some small clubs. Gunston and LMVSC should have sold out while they had the chance. Too much ego gets in the way good business decisions with both clubs.
