Yes, there are kids that could play club but don't. And there are kids that play club lacrosse for 2-3 years and play less capably than rec players.Anonymous wrote:If a kid is not in a club team are they really considered advanced?
I've heard the same with DCE/Performance Lacrosse - it's for new players, not skill development for intermediate/advanced players. Talk to the camp director in advance to set expectations. There are local clinics (usually 1-2 hours) for non-beginner players as well.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:camps and clinics are good if you child is new to the sport. Wrong. Their camps and clinics help keep the sport fun, helps kids makes friends and breaks up the boredom of hitting the wall.
Assuming this is for your son. Have no idea about camps/clinics for girls. Anyways, my son went to a few of their camps last year. He was a better player (skill wise) and was miserable. He didn't learn anything and said it was for basic skill development. Said that half the kids could not catch or throw the ball.
Like previous poster said, if your child is new to sport or wants to learn the basics - its worth it. Otherwise not worth the cost. Also, depends on the age of your kid. If your kid is in MS... not worth it as most kids tend to be really young.
It's not fun if the level of play is much lower than your current skillset.
