Bullis lost their entire 25 roster, and frankly that team wildly underperformed the last three years, based on their talent. They have also lost underclassmen over the summer. They will not be strong unless something drastic changes because that program no longer recruits lax players. There is a big chasm at the school between lax team and rest of teams/school. Documented issues last couple of seasons. Not sure how they've let it get this bad.

Hilgy is very talented coach and the hire commands respect. However, he did not rule the MIAA and as someone else pointed out. Team 91 became a great pipeline to him at McD. He won't have that immediately at Prep.

Give him 4-5 seasons. Which is much too long than most lax parents are willing to give. Amazing that last Prep coach was given such a short leash imo.

Landon will struggle bigly next year. No fogo and no goalie.
Bullis will struggle too. If they couldn't win the title with last year's roster, it's not gonna happen this year.
GP will jump all the way the to the top making Hilgy look like Danowski. He has an Army fogo and now a seasoned goalie who took his lumps last year and probably the best attack in the region.
STA might actually challenge for 3rd.
SSSAS and EP will fight it out for dead last.
Prep wins every offseason.

Typically true in these threads but it might happen this way in the IAC this year. Not sure who has the roster to beat them in the IAC. Lots of teams have the roster to beat them and every other team in the IAC regionally.

Within 4 years, he will have Prep in the National top 5.

He wouldn’t have jumped ship to Prep if he wasn’t guaranteed admissions slots/ scholarships. He had a very good set-up at McDonogh, probably the best arrangement out of all the MIAA schools

Prep is eyeing national aspirations and I guarantee you they are leaving the IAC on their own accord.
I don't think guarantee means what you think it means.

The writing is on the wall for the iAC and have been brought up before. Football is a dying sport in the DC area in general and SSSAS is no longer a football member. Every school is having trouble fielding teams in Varsity, JV and barely freshman due to single sport concentration and the very large phenomena of floaters who actually discourage participation by stealing practice and play time on 2 different teams. Bullis and GP want to recruit like crazy for every sport. Landon and St. Albans are trying to balance sports and school. Episcopal and SSSAS can't get out of their own way and have driven many away with their policies.

Simply not true about the popularity of football waning in the DMV. Football numbers are up at almost every school. The WCAC and IAC are putting plenty of players in D1 programs. Not sure what is happening with some MAC schools, but Maret recruits heavily for football. SSSAS should join the MAC.
As a previous poster noted, football is the one sport that most alums rally around and support at almost every school. Homecomings, reunions, and rivalry games are packed with fans. Of course the WCAC and IAC feature some of the best lacrosse players in the country, but football is still king.

The post you are responding to is filled with utter nonsense. Some of it is wishful thinking and the rest ideologically driven. Although its possible in their social circle, football is no longer PC.
"ideologically driven" ?

Lax dad in khakis coming out strong for their game that is played in ten states !

So the lax games at Prep get more fans than the football games ? Have you been to the Prep stadium for a Friday night football game ? How about Bullis ? How about Good Counsel, Dematha, St John's, Gonzaga, PVI ? Is football dying at those schools ?

It started out "the post you are reaponding to", genius. He was agreeing with you.

Prep does not dominate lacrosse. Last I checked they had a losing record, got dominated by Bullis and Landon, and lost to nobody St. Christopher’s

Their swimming is elite because of the international boarders, primarily the Asians.

This is the dumbest post I’ve read. Prep’s best swimmers are not Asian. They’re from Gaithersburg and Rockville.

Only because the offer athletic scholarships

Oh, boy!

There are, of course, no athletic scholarships in any of the private schools. There is, of course, Financial Aid. And it's highly likely that athletes at all these schools get better FA packages than they would have if they were not so highly prized for their athletic ability.

This favoritism started when these kids were identified, recruited and admitted over more academically qualified applicants.

THEY ALL DO IT!

Parents on the losing side of games are always going to search for reasons. (They recruit! They have more students! Their players are older!, etc. etc)

The idea is that other team somehow has advantages that are illegal, immoral and/or unethical (Or if they are not, they ought to be!)
