If you’ve been on DCUM long enough, you know by now that there are plenty of peoples who will make it their business to monitor and report others. And no one who gets such a report is going to risk their jobs to protect some slacker employee.

That’s not a bad scam in itself. Put in a weak RA request, if it gets thru it gets thru, if it doesn’t eh couple weeks of TW as HR gets around to evaluating it, you protest etc. I think people are doing it. This building is just too empty - and far emptier than weeks 1-2 when the VERA ppl had left but everyone else was back. It’s not even a heavy vacation time yet. Is everyone off on a business trip all at the same time?



I was thinking some of it could be for graduations. Especially if the leave seems like the long weekend type.

One other consideration is that if we had WFH where a parent could pop out to a kids appointment and back to work; that parent is probably still the default appointment parent and now just taking more sick leave to get the appointments.

If that is even a little bit true, she undoubtedly had a complicated pregnancy requiring bed rest or the like.

We definitely have a pregnant woman on an RA for her entire pregnancy. And then there’s other women seeing this being like hmm I could have kid #3 or 4 and be out for the next 12 months from peeing on the stick thru maternity leave.

I mean if people want to play the RA game that’s fine but from what I heard RAs ARE being granted but they’re fairly time limited. There are multiple people in my group who have them/are getting them and it’s people awaiting a surgery or recovering after a surgery. But they acknowledge it isn’t forever - maybe weeks or months not like see you in 2026. Though could just be that these ppl didn’t use shady drs. One woman said her surgeon was quick to be like we’ll only sign off for 6 weeks bc after that you’re fine to go anywhere including work.

I don't have an RA, but it's crappy of you to presume to judge whether somebody else's situation is real. That's between them, the doctor, and the boss - i.e., 3 professionals, at least one of whom has a license.
I don't even care if they told you they are faking, because people say that to save face and not share their personal issues. Leave it alone.
