Meeting slides show a 33% reduction of players from 2025 to 2026. From 98% acceptance to a 71% acceptance rate. Nevermind which side of this circus drama is right or wrong, 1/3 of the customers have already said f it we're out. The club has been irreparably hurt reputationally, socially, financially, and more. That's a shame.

He's only suing RS and the BoD to step down, the club will pay out the money not any individual.

And how do you think the club gets money? Perhaps, from the individual fees we all pay out of our own pockets? And paying from insurance is not free as someone alluded to... it's money lost in terms of insurance rates at best, at worst its lose of coverage. And even when he loses this case, the cost to the lawyers GFR has paid must be ridiculous. How much money has the club already lost to lawyers because of ML (BOD not coach)? It must be far greater than any amount he "alleges" others have done.

I doubt seriously that any attorney at CH can accurately be referred to as "cheap". They didn't accidentally grow to become a top 100 law firm (with several *hundred* attorneys) by not knowing how to practice law.

He's suing the club for $71k. That won't come out of any board members pocket, it will come directly from the club which means the club members are paying for this lawsuit just like they did the one's from RP and KB - why aren't more people mad about these guys suing the club and taking THEIR money???

+1

So someone who cares so much about the financials of GFR wants the YOUTH soccer club to give him a payday! Got it!

Takes a special kind of person to sue a youth soccer association for money.

The club is presumably insured against these claims, so any money isn’t coming out of anyone’s pocket (except for any amounts up to the SIR).

And if they use insurance their premiums will either skyrocket or they'll get dropped. Ultimately, the club will PAY. Not RS. Not NM. Not any member of the BoD. The CLUB will pay.

Anonymous wrote:Has everyone yet seen the Fairfax County Civil Case (requesting a jury trial) brought against Richard Shelton (GFR Exec Director) this week?

As part of remedies, the plaintiff seeks:

"Plaintiff seeks an order requiring a full, independent forensic audit and financial review of GFR operations from 2021 to present, including but not limited to:
a. All compensation, reimbursements, and financial benefits received by
Richard Shelton, directly or indirectly;
b. All transactions, payments, or agreements involving:
i. Total Futbol and its principal(s), including the $446,000 unapproved
contract;
ii. NVU (Northern Virginia United) and its leadership;
iii. compensation discussions or payment and access to GFR’s financial data provided to unauthorized individuals;
iv. Loudoun NVA and Futsal clinics, where funds were diverted to Shelton’s personal PayPal account;
v. Sterling Soccer and any related merger or affiliation efforts; or personal payments made to Shelton;
c. All unauthorized personal uses of GFR financial instruments, including
credit cards, PayPal, and Venmo;
d. All settlements and severance payouts, paid to any former employees; and
e. The use of GFR’s FEIN, name, and brand by external entities without Board approval." (Note:he leased a car in GFR's name without Board knowledge or approval)

The suit is public information, filed with the County and a necessary read. It's quite damning against RS, and if true, is a complete breach of both law and fiduciary responsibilities.

Thanks for the clarification ML. Hope they can help you with the counter suit coming your way.

are you stupid? they have admitted no wrongdoing and you’re still clinging to rumors. ML’s behavior is the sole reason for losing paying customers and I agree with the above post. He’s got a dime store attorney who chose to take this case probably because he owes ML a favor and now will end up having to defend ML on a huge countersuit!

There are likely plenty of people leaving who don’t even know who Mario is or know much about all of the drama. They probably don’t know who NM is either, but that sort of is a problem since he is supposed to be the TD.

He acts very irrationally. Tried a coup to fire RS without reading the bylaws. Terminates a contract with TF that has 8 coaches on it. Then gets his ass handed to him and sends out a nasty gram email implying embezzlement (even though he is on record at a coaches meeting saying there was no financial irregularities). And now he is suing the club he claims he loves so much. He is unhinged and getting bad advice from a cheap ambulance chasing lawyer. Bro is definitely going to get counter sued for defamation.

Defamation for sure but doesn’t he also have a legal obligation to the club he chose to serve on the board? He didn’t even approach half the board to discuss the issues and concerns he had. He just convinced two clowns to go along with his attempt to oust people he heard (likely from RP) were doing bad things. There’s still NO EVIDENCE!

Thanks for the feedback Moronio. For someone who cares so much about GFR you certainly are trying to paid off of your lawsuit against them. Did your cheap dime store lawyer convince you this was a good case? Because it’s not and you just opened yourself up to a counter suit.

OMG typo on blog! You’re right Moronio is a genius and a hero!
