Overall did feel this episode was boring.
Jake was not a good idea for the show. No one wants to watch a surly charmless teenager.
+1 I’m going to have to agree. It’s just so unrealistic to me.

The actor just didn't work. We never saw his warmth toward Robby. Only Robby's care for him.
We did see some warmth from Robby to Jake early on in the season, but we had no back story. To me, the idea that he’s that close with the son of a woman he dated for a few years ago a while back just didn’t seem that plausible.

Maybe Robby’s statement to him that he shouldn’t blame himself is what gets him super mad — because in a way it kind of points out that maybe Jake should blame himself.

Is it actually realistic that he would blame Robby for his girlfriend’s death? Wouldn’t be feel guilty himself that he switched out Robby and replaced him with the girlfriend? Or is that where his angry reaction to Robby coming from — from guilt? That doesn’t really come through the acting — Jake just seems like an ungrateful jerk (I don’t think we really understand the personal trauma he has been through).

Real hospitals do sometimes have unused, unrenovated wings or units. Heck, my hospital lets staff sleep over in our empty unit in a snowstorm.
