Pages of deflection from the Miranda camp when asked if she supported Youngkin speaks volumes. I know what I need to know. Voted for the kid. At least he won’t cave to Youngkin.

Ok well then that pretty much confirms it's a real account and not a troll.

and that there's stuff in there his wife's campaign doesn't want people to see.

Or maybe it’s that he’s a private citizen who is not running for public office and realizes there are crazies running around who are out looking for a scalp and his will do.

He’s a dad of 3 kids with his own interests and views that are separate from that of his wife. I don’t care who he is, what he believes. He’s not on the ballot. People should be ashamed of themselves.

How separate are they? Is she a Youngkin supporter too? DeSantis?

I care if she’s being deceitful. Or if she tolerates MAGA nonsense. Sure seems like she does.

You’re suggesting that she is being deceitful because of her husband’s tweets? Maybe take a breath, remember that it’s 2023, and that she is not his property. He’s not running for public office, she is.

For all the 1000s of posts about APE and hatefulness, you people need to turn the mirror around on yourself. It’s not pretty.

I’m asking if she voted for Youngkin.

If she told you she didn’t, what then? It’s not going to convince you of anything. You clearly think she’s some kind of MAGA Manchurian Candidate.

If she said she did vote for Youngkin, that would just confirm your belief that she’s a closeted MAGA. If she said she didn’t, you would just say she’s so committed to her deception and that makes her even more dangerous.

You need to go touch grass.

Ask her. Last I checked ballot boxes were private. All I know is that she’s pretty clearly a Dem and always has been.

My guess is you won’t ask her though. Then you’d have to own up publicly that you’re trafficking in anonymous attacks on her husband.

Speaking of misogyny…does Miranda ever drink wine?

Of course spouses matter, male or female. Ginni Thomas was a great example.

I'm a woman btw. I'm offended that you're trying to pull the gender card. As a woman voter, I'm offended that you think we should not vet female candidates just because they are female.

And I think this is a lot like being interested in the views of Clarence Thomas's (male's) spouse (female).

Exactly.

Well APE endorsed Kadera….

That not the question. Has Miranda said whether she voted for Youngkin? Many in APE did.

APE publicly congratulated him at a time when she led it.

So... Miranda who did you vote for? The MAGA Republican RWNJ governor?

Obvious deflection noted.
APE-endorsed Kadera, OK.
APE-endorsed Turner, Evil Incarnate

No, it was a redirect back to the original question.

No one GAF if APE endorsed Kadera or not.

AC/DC certainly should ask if she voted for a pro-life, anti-CRT, election integrity MAGA DB.

Everyone should ask her this. How can any real Dem even consider voting for her without knowing this???

Have you not ever voted for someone without knowing what candidates they have voted for in their voting lifetime? Do you know if they even voted in every possible election, primary, and caucus? Can't be a truly committed dem if not!

Politicians frequently endorse/support other politicians. It is only a secret when you have something to hide.

Youngkin was a recent election so it helps us understand her priorities and principles.

Is she anti-MAGA? That might be a little awkward in her household.

So where do the candidates stand on standards based grading?

APE asked about it in the candidate questionnaire: https://www.arlingtonparentsforeducation.org/school-board-2023. Only Miranda answered. Looks like Angelo didn't bother responding at all. Sounds par for the course. He's a no show at the advisory committee meetings, a no show at at least two forums, no show at his own election, and not bothering to engage with a community group. Whether you like APE or not, not responding is not the action of a community leader who wants to work with everyone.

Maybe that's because there is no separation between APE and MT's campaign? He might as well stop by the Turner family reunion to campaign. And APE has constantly criticized APS for standards-based grading. Just like the missing middle people, they always claim to be opposed to "the process" when anyone proposes something progressive. Frankly, I think it's principled to not respond to APE's questionnaire. I don't want a community leader that touches such a divisive group even with a 10-foot pole.

Agreed. APE is a LOBBYING GROUP. They have been trying to get Miranda elected for years. They may as well be her personal PAC. Angelo is smart to not answer their little questionnaire. He answered the AGIA questionnaire and did a dang good job with it too.

People keep putting him down for his age but he's proving himself to be savvy.

APE derangement runs deep. What is wrong with their "little" questionnaire?

From Miranda's page, it looks like they asked about 1) Remedying subsitute (Gasp!); 2) Standards-based grading (pearl clutch); 3) Reducing class sizes (Pass the smelling salts!); 4) Learning Loss and Achievement gaps (Dastardly!) 5) device usage at schools (villians!)

https://static1.squarespace.com/static/6041ba6620a81d18855bdb62/t/64512b38322df0273fd9abe7/1683041080616/APE+Miranda+Turner+Responses+April+2023.docx.pdf

It's 5 questions. Written responses. Seems like a fair arrangement so that there was an equal playing field. He could have asked Reid to do his homework for him if he was too busy finishing his finals.

He could have but he didn't want to play APE's game. Good for him. APE isn't a legit org. They're a lobbying group, and right now they exist to elect Miranda.

He answered the AGIA questions so it's not like he's against answering questions from a LEGIT group.

I also heard from ACDC peeps that APE asked for a debate and AC turned them DOWN. Never got confirmation though, so I don't know if APE ever wanted a debate and didn't get it, or if it's just a rumor. I agree PP, I'd say it's a power move and APE just doesn't like when they're spurned.

That APE questionnaire was a "power move?" And just what "power" do you think it has? They put out something to address the issues they want addressed. The opponent chose not to respond - when responding would have given him a prime opportunity to distinguish himself/his views on the very specific topics everyone is so critical of APE for.

I'm pretty sure, actually, that APE put it out on its FB page for people to ask questions they wanted asked of the candidates. They also survey members to select priorities. So it's a pretty democratic process.

As for astroturfing, if you watch what they are doing, they actually ARE advocating for more transparency, etc. They pushed for the dashboard. They are asking APS to show more data. This is a real thing the org does.

Thanks, Jeff, for deleting the other link and explaining why. I clicked on it, and that was some crazy conspiracy stuff, that, again, mostly boiled down to the fact that Turner has friends who are Republicans.

DP. You’re minimizing her relationships. She partnered with them for years. One works at a Koch think tank. And you’re overlooking the bullying/vitriol that she found acceptable.

NP. Are you saying we should never advocate alongside someone unless we agree 100%? The dude works for a GMU think tank that receives limited funding from Koch (like many other museums and other great causes). Looks like a libertarian group. Hardly worthy of the insinuations of your post.

I wouldn’t advocate and partner with people who were all out abusive to others in our community. In the same community she’s seeking a public office.

Sounds like you should vote for MT. Angelo’s supporters are interfering in an election and posting conspiracy theories under an anonymous account. He is aligned with them unless he denounces them and demands them to reveal their names and state the truth.

Just to be clear, there are no Angelo supporters. There are only Miranda haters.

I would maybe prefer someone with more ties to Arlington, but I think he's a good candidate. He can bring a fresh perspective.

I support him.

More ties to Arlington? He has exactly zero.
He will not stay here, if he doesn’t win. He’s not invested here in any way.
And sadly, I think he has no perspective; his only “experience” is having been a student in a very-different-from-Arlington school district. Every little club he ever signed up with and (likely also didn’t show up at) is way overblown, it’s painfully obvious.
Also, he has zero interest in education, only in climbing the political ladder.

In the extremely short time he’s been here in Arlington - a few months- he’s rapidly signed up for various local committees and associations, apparently to pad his resume, and he has been a no show at nearly all the meetings. All his answers I’ve seen are either platitudes or non-relevant. Even if he ends up as the only candidate on the ballot I will not vote for him.

He’s a Democrat who has a positive attitude and wants to help our community.

If he wanted to help this community he would have moved here well before announcing to run, would have joined the committees and associations and actually SHOWN UP and learned about the community and the schools, and then perhaps run several years later. This is a minimal effort power grab.

Ok but at least we don't have to worry about whether he voted for YOUNGKIN. I see how the Miranda supporters keep deflecting from that question. ANSWER THE QUESTION MIRANDA - DID YOU VOTE FOR MAGA REPUBLICANS?

You can keep yelling the question all you want. Has it occurred to you that Miranda probably isn't reading this?
Nobody is obligated to tell anyone who they voted for in any election. That's part of our democratic system.

Seems like her husband is reading it.

Politicians frequently give their endorsements. She could easily speak out on Youngkin & his crazies, but I haven’t heard a peek.
