I’m surprised Biden isn’t using executive powers to ramp up the pressure just a wee bit here. You can start by slow rolling the checks to West Virginia welfare recipients, of which they are many. Cut hours at the local SS office and post office. Slow roll Medicare reimbursements. Flood his office with stupid constituent complaints and you have plausible deniability the whole time.

Really? You don't say. I mean Manchin's been saying it since Summer 2021 but nice to see the Biden administration finally catching up.

Officials are giving more weight to the prospect that the aggressive fiscal- and monetary-policy responses to the pandemic over the past two years may have altered traditional recessionary dynamics, buoying wage growth that normally takes longer to recover after a downturn.

LOL Give it up. Trying to hang BBB by a dangling thread on coal miners when Manchin can easily attach the thing they want - the coal miner's pension plan - to any legislation this year with bipartisan support is just desperation.

Manchin has a 61% approval rating in West Virginia from opposing this.

Well yeah, its a bill. You can trash talk as much as you want as you dress it, clean it out, and prepare it for a vote. Its inanimate. Insulting a former Governor and sitting U.S. Senator who has served his country in various positions for over 50 years? Its not only arrogant, its presumptuous. You needed his f**king vote. I don't know what they're on or maybe they got dizzy during WFH and forgot common sense. But they deserve this fail.

Oh so it's trashtalking him to repeat what he said? Let's cut to the chase here: NOW we know that all this time, Manchin was just a sleazy grifter. NOW we know he took $1.5 million from Republican donors to scuttle the bill. Turns out they never had his vote to begin with. The guy's a con man. But somehow now the Democrats are the bad guys for calling him out for HIS misdeeds?

It's like the same right wing hysteria over White House leaks during the Trump administration. They were more angry about the fact that things were leaking than the content of the leaks, which was far more damning than the leaks themselves.

Help me out here. What does "democrats" and "social welfare" and "fighting" and Binax" have to do with each other?

It has to do with the party and administration controlling Congress completely dropping the ball on what should be their priority - pandemic preparation.

We’re still in one.

Obama and Harry Reid would have never made these basic mistakes.

Where is this Biden? I want him back.

No pandemic preparedness? Speak for yourselves. We have plenty of N95s, we have our vax and booster and have been able to stay out of the hospital and keep from dying.
It's there, if you avail yourself of it rather than refusing it, getting sick and dying "to own the libs."

I'm triple vaxxed and grateful Biden has done a stupendous job making vaccines available. Doesn't mean I don't want a president who prioritizes the pandemic and makes sure we have enough tests during winter surge that cars aren't wrapped around community centers for miles and people around the same for blocks.

And before you say this isn't happening - this is what it looks like to get tests in my area.

Maybe, just maybe.... with a 50/50 Senate, the House and the Senate are simply biting off more than they can chew. The votes aren't there. And I bet there are a few other Democratic Senators who are thrilled this bill is dead.

And, as for your rhetoric toward Manchin...... maybe it's time he switch parties. If not to Republican, maybe to Independent and caucus with Republicans.
That might teach Nancy and Chuck and Joe a lesson.

The Democratic senators are representing their constituents. Just because the GOP wants to roll around in the 1830s doesn’t mean they should get to drag the rest of us back in time with them.
