I love the whole thing. She does casual chic so well.
It is the perfect outfit…
… for going to the mall or a football game.
It looks like something I’d wear to the barn.
I feel like it's a weird miss for her. She's not usually under-dressed for events. Even a sweater or something rather than the shirt-jacket would have made this a little less "apple picking/barn/football game" and more "business casual". But I tend to think those pants are just irredeemable for business wear. It looks like she's wearing tights. I'm really surprised there are two posters here who think this is a great outfit for a business type event. This was honestly such an easy assignment -- basically any pants with any top or cashmere sweater or blazer, or any simple dress, or any of her many pencil skirts with that same black turtleneck all would have been fine. This isn't the type of fashion mistake she usually makes (usually her problems are with going too costumy and over-thinking the assignment -- pitch helmets in Africa, etc.)
I agree with PP that she is leaning hard into the menswear look this administration. I like the look for her, and it is flattering on her because she is tall with broad shoulders -- I think she often does it well, but this one just isn't working for the occasion. This would be better for "visiting the disaster stricken area to help hand out water bottles" or "taking underprivileged children to the zoo" (note -- she should do that).
There are more than “two posters” who like this outfit. This wasn’t really a “business type event”. It was more of an in-house thank you to her staff and volunteers.

Except for the trip to the UK has she worn any actual color since the inauguration? White, browns (several shades), black, gray? And everything is menswear oriented.
