I have a 1st grader and kindergartner. We did virtual K last year.
The only thing I am nervous about is the no talent ass clowns on the school board once again caving to teacher associates and forcing us back into virtual.
Home school your weirdo bubble kids if the thought of in person education truly scares you.

Delta cases are down 70% in the UK, 90% in India and are starting to turn over in southern states now. The Delta “surge” will be on a steep downward slope right around when schools start here. https://twitter.com/scottgottliebmd/status/1423026055049273345?s=21
The only way Youngkin has a chance this fall is if he makes huge gains in Fairfax / Loudon. The only way that happens is if schools are closed. This is a off year election and every Democrat in the country will be watching. The national party won’t let a couple of yahoo’s on the school board blow this election by letting schools to close.
We’ll be fine, enjoy the last few weeks of summer
+1
Pathetic MAGA troll trying to push the Trumphumper candidate.

There is a discussion about how nervous everyone is.
I’m not a teacher but most teachers I know seem pretty positive about this year. Generally wanting to go back and recognizing that in person school is the best for everyone, though there is some nervousness. It’s the parents who are trying to torpedo the openings at this point. A nervous parent just started a change.org petition to petition FCPS to bring back the “virtual option” for everyone who wants it until kids can be vaccinated. Aka “staff two school systems in the middle of a labor shortage in a state that is very friendly to homeschoolers.”

Chap Petersen basically promised #openFCPS the bolded last summer. Every D delegate will be breathing down the necks of our SB to keep things open this fall, at least through Election Day.

The school boards and teachers unions will demand it.
Mark. My. Words.
Nah, y’all just wanna play the victim again. Ain’t nobody asking for anything more than masks & vaccines.
I’m a new teacher and just joined the teacher Facebook group and wow, a lot of teachers are unsure and wanting to start virtual.
I can’t. Being new is hard enough. Can’t do virtual. I would fail the kids so bad.
I'm not part of that FB group, but no teacher I know wants to teach virtually. Not me, not my spouse, not my teammates...
Well there are teachers shocked we are starting in person.
I figure if we can eat indoors, vacation in groups, go to the gym, attend baseball games with tens of thousands, attend concerts with thousands of people, fly to Disney, fly to Europe, party on Bourbon St., etc. we can start school in person.

This was true before Delta became prevalent. The science suggests that (1) it is much more easily transmissible, (2) younger kids are more affected by it than they were earlier strains and (3) vaccinated people can catch it and spread it. The reality has changed--that doesn't mean that school needs to be virtual, but more precautions need to take place, particularly around the lunch rooms.
Delta is prevalent now while we (teachers) are doing all of those things now. My point is if we can do all of those things while Delta is here, we can teach in person. Wouldn't it be hypocritical to say otherwise?
I am not doing all those things. We are still in a pandemic.
And by the way, I don’t do all those things because I am going to teach in person. I really wish people would stop treating the world as if it were their playground.
