I'm 49 and my dc is 6. This is literally not a thing Dc is not embarrassed, besides, what little kid knows what 'middle aged' is?

In case you are not aware, if you go to parents night in K or 1st (so, where a 6 yo would be) you will see an age range of parents. No kid is going, oh my gosh mom is over 40 I'm so embarrassed! No one.

The OP's kid would be 7 years old by now, if she ever had one . . .

If you are healthy, emotionally stable, financially secure, and all that good stuff then no - it is not too old. I did 2 rounds of IVF at 42, trying for a second child. Didn't have any luck and backed out of donor egg in favor of adoption. So, I'm definitely on team "it is not too old!"

A six year old just wants a mom. Why would they care about age?

Yes, it's too old.
If kids had a choice, they wouldn't choose an old parent over a younger one.
I would not want to saddle my 30 year old kid with the decision to put me in an old folks home already.

Idk my 8 year old seems pretty darn happy. --turning 51 soon.

Even if you manage to have a child at 41, you will likely start the road to menopause soon.

I had my second at 41, and now I’m experiencing menopausal symptoms.... not fun 🤩 😂 😆 imagine? Menopause along with taking care of a pre-teen and s now 5 year old 😂 What was I thinking!?

My husband is very helpful and supportive, but it’s hard.

Apparently when I was 4 I told my 39 y.o. mother that I didn't want a mother with gray hair. I think she dyed or bleached her hair or something. Moral of the story even 30s is OLD for a 6 year old. That being said - I will be in my early 50s when my kid is 6 so obviously I wasn't too scarred by the experience. :wink:

Yes, and major life and planning decisions should definitely be dictated by the embarrassment level of a first grader.

No, it's not too old, plenty of people do it successfully. Do you need to take extra precautions and get proper prenatal and neonatal care and all that, yes, absolutely, because risks are higher. But "higher" doesn't mean "astronomical". If it's what you want and you don't have extenuating health circumstances such that your doctor recommends you against pursuing it, then there's not a problem going for it.
