Not that I primarily focus on HS.

The top 10% of Trevor is not doing just as well as HM or Dalton.

are the trevor kids less intelligent, driven, motivated? or is it the teaching? or is it all about the parents $$, hooks etc?

Most the intelligence and drive. There is more money at HM and the like but there’s enough at Trevor. The Trevor students just aren’t up to snuff even with large gifts to universities.

Wondering this as well. What happens if an intelligent, driven, motivated kid attends Trevor? Do they not end up in the same place as if they went to HM?

They’ll have a marginally worse outcome. Iron sharpens iron. Being around unintelligent peers weighs down your growth.

what specifically can you shares about Trevor that causes your concerns?

Please don't encourage them. Somehow Trevor made them angry so they have this horrible hatred towards the school. Trevor has its pros and cons. They go overboard on the cons. Top kids there do very well. Overall outcomes don't compare to TT, but a top kid has a very good chance at an Ivy. And will have four less stressful years of HS. One can better argue about the benefits of the lower school program but it is still not as bad as this person makes it out to be.

i'd like to hear their points on Trevor. Hopefully they can make a solid argument for why they don't like it.

Trust me. They can't. And note that I am not president of Trevor's fan club. It isn't perfect. One can constructively say negative things about it. But this clown's visceral hatred of it just destroys all reasonable discussion. It is not OK to feel that kind of childish hatred towards anything (other than maybe Donald Trump and anchovies).

I'm out. Not sure why I am wasting my time.

what is the reason for their hatred of Trevor?

At least with the B parent we know the main reasons they do not like B. we might disagree on whether or not it's systemic there - but at least we have some context and some actual facts about the school.

saying Trevor sucks and ROI isn't good is pretty detailed enough.

It’s matriculation and scores are terrible for the price. Especially when great publics are next door on the UWS and UES. There’s simply no justification for it.
Small class sizes, more interesting curriculum, better lunch, the list goes on and on.

and for many people it's not $1mm. it's $300 to 500k depending on whether they start in MS or HS.

our DD BFF will attend there in HS after doing MS/ES in public. They are happy.

Sorry your daughter is friends with an idiot

She's not a rocket scientist but she's not an idiot.

She's someone who did great in public school but doesn't want to go to a specialized school. Wants to have a nice high school experience. Not shooting for an elite college, a top 50 school would be a great outcome.

Sounds lovely, people here lose sight on the bigger picture and are obsessed over status and money.

she's a lovely girl and frankly she will do extremely well in life. She's personable, outgoing, fun, smart enough. Her parents are solidly upper middle class manhattan folks, so they don't do the whole ROI thing for a 300k expenditure on education.

she's kind of the person that is the boss of the really intelligent person who doesn't have the social skills. maybe a first generation person who feels like they should be the boss but they are being held back by the man.

Solidly upper middle class means the ROI matters a lot more than if they had F U Money.

Not really. $300k doesn't really impact solidly upper middle class people. It's a 1x expense that runs thru the P&L for 4 years. say Net worth $5MM making $500k a year. you tighten the belt for 4 years and make it work. Maybe the grandparents help pay a portion of the expense.

Or like most parents you have been thinking about HS/college for a while and saving up $20-25k a year for it for many years

It’s not rich or upper class, the financial profile you provided is more than upper middle class, even for NYC. There’s people making high six low seven figures doing worse than that.
not sure what you mean by the post - it's not consistent at least the way i read it

really curious as to what is TT school in your view and 2T.

TT: Dalton Trinity HM
2T: Poly, Riverdale, fieldston

nitche has Riverdale at number 2 in the country. even if that is flawed it's definitely TT. you are silly.

But you don't feel that obsessively passionate about many of its peer (or worse) schools? Just Trevor. Whatever. I think a Trevor girl stole your boyfriend back in the day and you're still bitter. Or a Trevor alum fired you. Or your kid just didn't get in.

Everyone knows what Dwight and Browning and Columbia are, 3T. There’s shilling and a gross exaggeration of Trevor here that other dumpster fires don’t have.

what are other 2T schools and what do you consider TT?

CGPS exmissions are better than Trevor i believe. From this year, Trevor has about 35% to elite or T30 type schools. CGPS has almost 50%

Why are you seeking answers and fulfillment from this person who clearly knows nothing. You seem to have battered spouse syndrome. Ignore them. Unless it is just the same person responding to their own posts. Which is a whole different syndrome.
i love discussions.

the person must know something, curious as to why. you can't be that negative toward a school just because the ROI is bad.

There are terrible schools everywhere. Few aside from Trevor and Trump University claim to be amazing and towards the top of the heap despite being a waste of money.

Which is a whole different syndrome.
i love discussions.

the person must know something, curious as to why. you can't be that negative toward a school just because the ROI is bad.

thoughts on other 2T schools or just trevor? CGPS, UNIS, Avenues? etc

Everyone knows those schools are pretty bad. At least unis and avenues serve a particular market niche and Columbia has some history behind it. All are 3T
really curious as to what is TT school in your view and 2T.

Examples:

TT: Dalton Trinity HM
2T: Poly, Riverdale, fieldston

Trevor doesn’t belong in either category
