We get it. You're better than poor people. Can we stay on topic now?

It’s on topic. Everyone can cook. Even poor people

And what exactly do you expect them to cook in NOVEMBER when they don’t have any money to buy food? Stone soup?

Also, lets push back on "everyone can cook" -- PP seems to be unaware of who receives these benefits. We'd like for everyone to be able to cook, and there used to be programs aimed at helping people do that, but Republicans cut them.

I hit up my friends for food for the food bank. A lot of people want to do something, but just haven’t gotten around to it. Those are the people I help get a donation to the finish line.

I’m dropping off the haul tomorrow morning.

There are so many people, including families with kids, who live in hotel rooms with barely more than a microwave and minifridge - or worse, out of their cars without even those options.

They are not the majority but they exist. They deserve to eat too.

Most people are not abusing their SNAP benefits.

Wake up, Republicans. This shit ain't a good look.

You are aware that the ballroom was privately funded, right? Private funds means no taxpayer money. You cannot expect them to divert funds donated to the ballroom, and redistribute the money to random Americans.

Yes. I can. Feeding hungry people takes priority over a tacky, gaudy ballroom to feed Trump's ego. Billionaires will be the first to the guillotine.

You clearly have a lot of time on your hands. Go get a job.

Oh now

Don't deprive the lady of her entertainment.

There is nothing else going on

Not like Trump's doing anything for her except allowing her to come here and troll. That's what he promised her and nothing more.

Where is Oprah (& her money) when you really need her?

Why Oprah? Why not Musk, who promised to help the UN rid the world of poverty, then split for Xitter - why not Musk?

Even conservatives know Musk DGAF

That's what they love about him. That rich white guy energy

And thanks to Reagan’s welfare queen speech, they erroneously believe most snap recipients are African American

See their convoluted mind working. Rich African American people taking care of their own.

They have iPhones, pets that get fed, houses/apts full of junk they don’t need, I could go on. We are a society of overconsumption- that includes even those in the low income brackets. If forced to purchase food with their own money, they would make it a priority.

A hundred thousand dollar car. I said to myself, wow, she got over on the government.

Are you under the impression that people who drive nice cars can't lose their job and need help?

If it were me I would sell the car and get something cheaper and use those $$ for food etc.

You don't know anything about her car or her finances. That car could've been a gift. It could be paid off. She could be borrowing it. You have no idea. Get a hobby.

Get rid of SNAP altogether -- it's just a giveaway to Big Ag selling toxic "food" and to Big Pharma selling drugs to the people Big Ag makes sick.

Oh, if only those poors would work an extra half hour a day! Then they’d all be UMC and we could abolish SNAP!

Absurd.

People seem to have lost the plot but I think the original argument was over whether poor people have time to cook or not.

Perhaps that is the case, but hours worked/day or week does not take into account any caregiving responsibilities, including kids -> school, etc.

We ALL have those same responsibilities!
