Alleged sexual assault happened early Sunday morning between 2am and 4am. Woman is seen on camera arm and arm with Pete going into his room.

The woman didn't go to police until Thursday. She claims she was possibly drugged and didn't remember much of the night.

To me, it reads like her husband was grilling her all week and didn't believe her story about where she was until 4am. Then she claimed she was sexually assaulted and maybe drugged, too.

You're using Megyn Kelly as a source. Do better.

Kelly is a lawyer and was merely distilling the police report.

Seriously. This woman is obviously a regret isn’t rape case.

If we refused to confirm every cheating husband for any government job, we could pay off the national debt.

Ikr? Secretary of Defense has no higher or lower standard than Joe from the VA. Oh wait (Hesgeth didn't last long at the VA)...

Could we find a Secretary of defense that is not getting "very intoxicated"? I think we could. That would seem to be a very wise idea.

In this case, it was a married with kids woman boozing and partying in a hotel with a model-esque womanizer Fox News host until 2am, with her husband and kids in another room, and then she walked back arm in arm into the Fox guy's room for a two hour romp. Then four or five days later she cries assault. Give me a break. I would bet anything it wasn't her first time cheating and the suspicious husband wouldn't let it go.

If, in fact, he was just paying her off with no “there there”, this suggests he would be a ripe target for blackmail from foreign countries and even perhaps domestic companies who do business with DoD. Too much of a risk.

He's not going to get confirmed, too much attention and I think Trump could have picked much better. Still, it was investigated and nothing criminal was found. Plus she was on video smiling and enjoying his company before heading into his room. She made up the story to her husband, probably for the money.

She was also weirdly possessive of her AP for a cheater. Sounds like a real catch.

There is a lot of misinformation on this thread. For example, is nothing in the police report about it being part of her job to get him to his room.

I find a lot about the allegation to not be credible but the thing that sticks out the most is that witnesses say she was fine the next day. She says she thinks she may have been drugged. Anyone who has actually been roofied knows that you feel like a train rolled over you the next day.

I read the report and noted that it seems undisputable that he is a sleazebag who was putting his hand on other women's legs against their will and overtly trying to sleep with them when they were not into him. Jst nasty gross behavior. Would say that alone generally indicates he probably doesn't understand boundaries and shouldn't be trusted with our nation's secrets - just takes one hot spy and a few drinks and that man will be saying whatever they want.

I agree 100% he's a sleazebag. I don't however agree he sexually assaulted this woman. Her story is laughably bogus.

Not sure why Republicans are insisting on having a tv personality who gets black out drunk and needs to pay women and have them sign NDAs to make the criminal charges go away should be the Secretary of Defense. This would be the weakest SecDef in history. Absolutely no one in the military or in politics or the private sector or the intelligence community is going to have any respect or deference to this creepy lightweight. Terrible choice.

Plenty of your favorite Democrats on TV and in office are skirt-chasers and closeted down low gay men with various allegations concealed behind NDAs. Paying hush money is not an admission of guilt. With this Fox sleazebag, he can rise the ladder and make $30 million a year. Who in their right mind is going to fight a civil suit and cost yourself such a gig? Get real. You pay the hush money, get the NDA, and move on. Haven't both CNN and MSNBC had a lot of lawsuits and settlements in recent years? Remember we never got the House sexual assault settlements made public. You know why.

You had me convinced at the mention of Fox and MSNBC. All sleaze for sure

They will be in the taxpayer’s payroll, and if the R’s on this thread were being honest, they would never hire these people to work for them.

I agree the report says he was inappropriate. That doesn’t make him a rapist and by this logic Joe Biden should not be trusted with our nation’s secrets either.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/apr/04/joe-biden-allegations-physical-behavior-women

I agree that Biden violated personal space but do not whatsoever think this is as bad as drunkenly deliberately inappropriately putting your hand on a woman's leg and asking her to f you. Not in the same league.

And I say this as a woman who has been groped twice.
