Insurance fraud. It's their modus operandi.

And we are supposed to pretend this is an example to respect. OP even said they had plenty of money, but were just miserly. What an example for their children and grandchildren -- no wonder nobody wants to have them around when they are like this.

It all makes sense.

So weird how these bitter, critical posters keep accusing others of being bitter and unhappy.

Every accusation is a confession.

Yah. We are so bitter about having great childhoods with loving parents, and enjoying trips with them as adults.

That makes a lot of sense.

You are haunting an anonymous forum to insult people who had childhoods less "idyllic" than yours.

Drown in bitter, PP. Your own words sentence you.

So profound. My childhood was certainly not idyllic, I’ve just moved on and grown up. My parents were human, capable of both greatness and mistakes. As am I. I would always give them my seats or my bed or whatever they need. I appreciate them. I’m sad for you that you seem to lack that appreciation.

Listen, the parents know who they are dealing with and backed the heck out of that “vacation”. They were probably bringing them to keep an eye on the kids anyway. It’s clear that OP is not exceedingly fond of her parents. There must have been some kind of agenda in inviting them.

Not sure why OP posted this in the first place. Obviously, she felt that not giving her parents the seats was questionable. She was looking for validation and now is angry that other people might have different opinions.

You should have respected your children instead of viewing them as resource to plunder, and then they would still visit you.

Your parents are awful. Your kids should decide. Morally speaking you should have your parents in first class over kids but given the situation your parents should have deferred to you to make that decision. Sorry OP you are getting so many horrible responses from people! Just because elders can does not mean they should have preference for anything they want from their kids!!! In this case the tickets are yours as they were invited after you got them.

You should have offered first class seats to your parent.

This is a terrible example you are setting for your children who will one day be in charge of you as grandparents. I can't "fathom" the hate many of you have for the elders in your family, how truly sad. Selfish is the word that comes to mind.

Triggered boomer.

Yep.
