The ones that are significant do and it's always bad news because SROs don't work and it's been shown they make schools less safe.

If the problem you are solving for is mass shootings by heavily armed mentally disturbed individuals, I agree with you that SROs do not work. If the problem you are trying to solve for is drug dealing and assaults on school property, SROs definitely help. I’m sure many of those kids got into the same trouble off school property but having police on property helped at least shift the location of the crime off campus. This allows kids that aren’t interested in that life to go to school without it being in their face. I think that’s a benefit. I’d love broader programs that solve the problem more generally but pushing it out of schools has some benefit for some kids.
It would be nice if the anti-security in the schools would come up with a real plan since their current plan not only failed but hurt many students and staff.

You know what’s not safe for mcps? Not having enough security. There are tons of serious incidents in mcps. Why do our kids need to feel unsafe in their schools because of people like you and their nonsense.
Nah the problem is parents that fail to instill values in their children. No amount of armed thugs will fix that.
Both parents and MCPS/schools need to step up and fix this. MCPS has long pushed parents out of the schools and both are equally to blame.
So, without security, without consequences, what is it going to take for MCPS to step up? More rapes, more murders, more assaults? When is enough enough.
