You mean the GQPer that also has a felony bank fraud conviction? In 2000? That guy?

It was expunged, so somebody important thought it wasn't true?

I think all the democrats should vote for him. He is too young to control the house republicans well enough to be able to do anything too bad. He is not a Qanon. I think he woiuld be better for the US than McCarthy.

Bravo. Let’s celebrate them for putting the name of the token black guy forward knowing he’s only gonna get 20 votes. A real working class hero who spent a decade of his adult life working as a financial advisor.

Get comfortable. He said that he will not withdraw. There is a good side to this. Nothing can be done by the House until there is a Speaker.

No one will get paid until there is a Speaker. Something will happen ... soon.

This is Day 2. How long will this go on? Five days? Next week? Longer? Or tomorrow?

In the 1850s it took months.

The WhigvParty had largely collapsed and no party held a majority of seats. Also there were 21 memvers serking the speakership. In the end, it was decided to change the voting to award the speakership based on a plurality.

And that from that chaos rose... the newly formed Republican party. How appropriate to watch it now imploding in the same dumpster fire from which it was born.

Hopefully democrats and a few republicans coalesce around Upton. Seeing Jordan explode when he doesn’t get a majority on the judiciary committee to launch his investigations would be hilarious

Well Jordan clearly didn’t since he nominated McCarthy.

Jordan wants it, but he thinks he's playing 4-D chess by being nominated while voting for McCarthy. Dumb.

I very, very much dislike Jordan and his grandstanding, but I also think he knows these two years will be a total sh*tshow if they can't get to some level of a consensus on speaker. And while I am never going to take anything he drags up seriously, he's going to make a Herculean effort to do his best to change my (and others) minds with all his hearings and investigations.

Anonymous wrote:House Republicans need to go into a room and not come out until they have 218 votes for somebody. The number one job of party leaders in Congress is to make sure they have the votes before putting a question on the floor for a vote. Neither McCarthy nor Scalise have been that very good at that.

I believe it was a very frustrated Mike Huckabee that suggested this on Fox News today. He also suggested not feeding them.

Oh, right. He's a Republican and when has one of them ever supported the working class except the 1%.

Oh there's no question on that one.

I can't believe the Ds didn't do something on this when they were still in charge. It's like leaving a loaded gun out in a house full of toddlers.

Debt ceiling is good until at least July or August. In the lame duck session, Democrats passed what could get enough Republican votes in the Senate.

Yes, this.

PALEEZE people. Stop blaming Democrats for GOP dysfunction. They have been bomb throwers for so long we have accepted this. NO, this is unacceptable. There is no bOth SidEs.

Again, ANY 6 Team Normal GOP could cross the aisle and make Jefferies Speaker or nominate a R who Dems believe would act in good faith.

It's not Dems fault the GOP wants to burn this all down.

Yup! Republican HATE Nancy Pelosi because she made it look so easy.

+1000. This is ENTIRELY the fault of GOP dysfunction. Revel in it.

Kevin will get the votes.

I would have preferred that he get them by coalescing with the left instead of the far-right, but miracles don't happen with this one.

The negotiations are not good for the country, so all we can do is enjoy the spectacle now and hope nothing too terrible will be conceded behind closed doors. Perhaps this clown car will make people vote for Democrats in 2024...

Fake spectacle is right. 2024? Don't make me laugh. The media and proles have the attention span on a gnat, nobody will remember this a week from now, let alone 18 months from now. This is just bozos and their media lapdogs lapping up the attention with a fake spectacle. Kevin and his "opposition" are all in on it.
