She had a goat sewn to her leotard. Do you think maybe she just likes farm animals?
Sport psychologists will tell you to pretend your not great for the comfort of others is not good for performance.
She is the greatest gymnast on the earth right now and she does not need to pretend she isn’t.
You can’t be confident and proud without calling yourself the greatest gymnast of all time?
You can be confident and proud and call yourself the GOAT too.
You do you.

Sure. I don't feel that way, but you certainly can. I don't think most people who think she is full of herself actually know much about her or follow her career. I think a lot of it is just trying to tear her down out of sheer nastiness. The PP who dislikes Simone and Usain Bolt had a strong "uppity black" undertone in their post. So I think most of it is just hate with a good dose of racism and misogyny thrown in. And like typical mediocre white people, they love to use other black athletes against one another (horrible take comparing her to Michael Jordan) Gag.
I find her to be a great role model for young women and girls, and exceptionally brave. She is a good human which was obvious in how much time she spent nurturing Jordan during the qualifications right before she had to go on herself.
Agree.
I always thought she was GOAT and a great role model too. My niece, a fairly high level youth gymnast (who will never be olympic level, but is being courted by a couple of colleges), though, told me last weekend SB is overly arrogant, not a team player and many gymnasts feel the same way. This was BEFORE she dropped out of any events. I texted her after I heard she'd dropped out, and my niece said something like "SEE, she does not care about her team...selfish!". I can see both sides of this, and actually sympathize more with her needing mental health help, but I thought I'd throw out that not all young gymnasts think she's a great role model.
What would you have had her done at the moment she realized that she couldn't pull it off and might break her neck while doing it?
Believe it or not youth sports at any levels is super cutthroat and its never ending. All these sports are year round from u12. The higher level you play or compete in the worst it is. It is exhausting mentally and physically. She is extremely talented and has accomplished a lot. Good for her if she wants a break.

Anonymous wrote:The twisties at age 25. In other words, washed up. Why is this such a big story? She’s old as hell for the sport, rich and doesn’t have it anymore. Is the news media and her corporate sponsors just trying to save face after hyping her up to be a God? Very weird.
