This is a weird leak that wouldn't originate from DOJ. Almost as if a Gaetz-friendly source is leaking it to make any future prosecution look like it's politically motivated since it would require DOJ "superiors" to overrule the "career prosecutors."

And Greenberg's lawyer said this today
Greenberg's attorney Fritz Scheller reacts: “I have not received any information from the government regarding its decision to abandon its investigation and prosecution [of Matt Gaetz]. Nevertheless, based on my knowledge of the evidence, I would be surprised by such a decision.”
