The younger Spirit teams got destroyed by FCV: 5-1 for the U14s and 10-0 against for the U13s.

The FCV teams are very talented. Fast play and accurate shots. The benches are almost as strong as the starters. It is interesting that a lot of good players would rather ride bench for FCV than start at other DA/ECNL options..

A general observation, some people in this thread have a real issue with a difference of opinion. Rather than acknowledging it and moving on, they’d rather get the last word in and disregard the opposing view, no matter the specific subject. This happens over and over again, but unfortunately, making the last post doesn’t “win” the argument for you.

Usually parents get angry when it drops the level of play on the team. When that kid does well, they are happy. I know I would be. I want my kid training and playing with the best. But at our club, none of our play ups qualify as the best. They just water down the level for everyone.

Such is life. We'd prefer the club have a higher level of talent. They just don't right now.

Right, just not at any of the higher level teams. Like a PP said, not at the DA level.

^^^I don't know of any club in NOVA where that's the case that you have that "special" player on multiple teams within a single club. When it's a normal thing, it's a roster problem. IMG had the same issue so they have the same practice: lots of playing up.

That’s a rather general statement. Play ups can be a sign of that or there may be a few special players who have the capacity to play with the older age group and the club seeks to challenge those players. I wouldn’t make the blanket statement that 07s playing on an 06 team means that there is or was trouble filling the roster though. A well developed and talented 07 can be just as good as a talented 06, depending on their physical and mental maturity.

Yeah, when you see a lot of teams with play ups, that's usually a sign they are having trouble filling out their rosters.

I respect that Arlington is throwing open its doors and simply looking for talent wherever it comes from. I look forward to watching them in action.
