Also, the number of boys who enter Mater Dei in 6th and are repeating is very small. 1 or 2 out of 40.
In my son’s class, maybe 2 were born before June. 3/4 were born after sept. And a couple were
Born after Jan of the next year.
The exaggeration on this issue is huge. Can someone provide similar stats for Landon or STA. I know a number of boys there and the fact pattern is the same.

As pps have said, being one year older doesn't matter in high school, especially on varsity when kids have completed their growth and development. Also, if a kid is big and tall that is genetics not the difference of one year in high school. Someone who is short, weak, and/or not a great lax player is not all of a sudden going to be tall, strong, and amazing at lax in one year. Not to mention the fact, that the students who repeat a grade are limited in numbers. It's not like the whole team has repeated or the whole grade. Give me a break, stop whining and making excuses. Instead, get outside and practice with your son so he can improve his skills. Kids with better skills will always run circles around other kids, even if they are a year older.
No dog in this fight either. I have no problem w/ redshirted, educationally delayed kids playing w/ their redshirted school classmates against other redshirted, educationally delayed schools. US Lacrosse has weighed in about age being the best and most verifiable determinant for grouping kids for playing a contact sport like lacrosse. I practice w/ my kids every day so they can play in club lax against redshirts who exploit their momentary size and speed advantages playing against younger kids. My boys are/will be taking HS math in 7th grade - so feel free to tell the Mater Dei parents not be slackass in getting their kids caught up w/ at least age appropriate curriculum.

So out of 40 kids, according to you, the class makeup is 2 repeats; 3/4 born after 9/1 and 2 born after 1/1. This means your son's class at Mater Dei has 35 kids who are born before 9/1. That is outrageous and there is no way the makeup of other schools comes even close to this ratio.
Do those 3/4 plus at least 1/2 repeats (probably more because you didn't say how many repeated prior to 6th grade) play lacrosse? If so, then there will be at least 4-6 kids turning 15 during the Spring lacrosse season just from Mater Dei. They will be competing against children 15 - 23 months younger.
Please try to justify this.

There is some reclassing going on, but not every club team has reclasses, let alone all of them. Mater Dei has by far more reclassed kids than any other DMV private school. Not even close. It's also a fact that the school's academic reputation is crud.
No shock that most Mater Dei kids are dumb as rocks.
