This 2008 Barça team is one of three on the girls side. This was their first true game. They held their own with a consistent level of play for the entire game, with no appreciable drop-off in skill as substitutes rotated in. Both teams play a similar build-out-of-the-back possession-based style, without being overly-aggressive. DD's team was able to score a pair of "opportunistic goals" (DD coach's assessment). The Barça coach seem even-tempered throughout the game.

I can only imagine that this Barça group will only get better over time. One game is a small sample size, but I could see this team having a tough time against a more physical, more aggressive team right now. They happen to be going up against a team like that later today. This same team also lost to one of Arlington's teams yesterday.

There was a 2007 Barça girls team on the field before DD's game. I didn't watch them play as intently … or for as long, but they looked as capable and as competent.[/quoteay

Thanks for your kind words. My daughter plays on that 08 team. The team is at a development stage and won't play in the leagues until Spring. Playing in their first tournament against tough teams was a good experience for the girls. The team has three 09s playing up with them and a couple of 2008s are playing up with 07 team. Good luck to FPYC in the semi-finals!

What I like is that when you see them practicing, you can tell what they are being taught. Lots of times, U9 isn't very well coached, but at Barca, they are. They are all learning the same style.

We can agree to disagree on a club, or agree on the facts but disagree on what they mean. US Soccer sucks to a large extent anyways.

Not following you on this. Where else have you engaged in this way? Your comment seems specific. Also, what does US Soccer have to do with anything we are discussing right now?? Seems very random.

I was commenting on this: "On that, we agree! I think if folks in this thread were a little less defensive when things that are not flattering are posted, you wouldn’t see some of comments you are taking objection to. "

I should have clarified. I simply related to the comment.

Honestly, that’s a very odd way to relate. Right where they forced you to and make them cry like babies is not what I shoot for when I post. I can’t relate to that or the tactic. Do you have involvement with other threads where you have participated in that? Is that where US soccer comes in? The reason I ask is because there was no mention of US Soccer in these posts. No issue with someone hating US Soccer, everyone has opinions, but it’s just freaky to bring it up as a response to comment in a topic that doesn’t mention it and has nothing to do with it.

No problem. I didn't mean to take the thread on a tangent. My apologies. And now we've spent several posts on it. Consider the subject closed.

Definitely not picking on Barca here, but what exactly is the basis for this?

How many of us are going around and comparing U9 practices? And what's the criteria?

Sure, your definitely not picking on Barca, yet someone makes an innocuous comment like that and you feel the need to challenge it?

It wasn't my post, but the person simply stated an opinion about a team ("they are good"), while informing us that their opinion was based on having seen the team practice.

People have recognized good and bad about Barca, but for some reason the unflattering opinions have been singled out and attacked in the past.

From your mouth to his ears. I’ll bet I’m right and you are not. I know for a fact that you are wrong about the realist and U9 post.

When you come to this thread and badmouth Barca and claim that numerous positive posts from parents like myself and many others with actual experience in the program are "PR," it is insulting and false. Not sure what your beef is with Barca, but we actually have the kids in the program and they love it.

This is funny. I made the realist comment and did not post on U9s. Please admin check to verify. This thread is as bad as the other one, except it’s stacked against any remotely could be construed negative comments on Barca
