Stock is doing OK. It opened at 70.15, dived down a few dollars, now back to 69.52.

Don't be daft. Of course we are all aware of the "airline deregulation" that took place in the late 70s. It takes the feds out of the business of dealing with fares, routes and new airlines entering the market. But there are a shit ton of regulations that relate to the airlines, planes, runways, you name it. My point is airlines, for example, should be regulated in the way they handle overbooking. Set a limit (can't overbook by a certain percentage), set a minimum that must be paid to customers who are bumped (triple the fare), enable the paying customer to say no.

United stock climbing again. I got in at 10am when it was 68.48, now it's up to 69.65. My strategy of doing exactly the opposite of what DCUM recommends paid off -- thanks DCUM!

Are you kidding me? I have posted on this thread that United and their awful CEO are in the wrong completely. I think you have a reading comprehension problem. What United did was reprehensible. My point is a realistic one...overbooking is not ideal but a reasonable policy (that benefits everyone by way of lower ticket costs) but it must be used in a reasonable way that respects your customers. But let me guess, you're one of those Trump apologists who sees his name and immediately goes into attack mode without knowing what you've just read. Sad, Trump dummy.

Realistically, at most I can see the particular cops who were involved getting reassigned. It's Chicago so I'm sure they have a strong union which will prevent them from being fired.

The CEO won't be canned because United made over $2 billion last quarter. Even today, their stock is down 2-3%, not 20-30%. It's down to where it was 3 weeks ago -- hardly a major impact.

The gate agent is probably part of a union too. They will get "counseled" then will continue their duties.
