I feel like there are a few loose ends in addition to the obvious (how Jack dies) that should be addressed even in passing. What happened to Miguel's kids - how come he and Rebecca are apparently always with the Pearsons at Thanksgiving. Same to some degree with Beth - we know her father died but she had three siblings and mentioned picking up the girls from her sister's house on Christmas Eve. Maybe Beth's family gets Christmas Day. Kate also mentioned falling in love with a former boss - would love to see that explored too.

Not sure what I want with Toby. I a not a fan of the character or the relationship he has with Kate. I didn't like how he basically made fun of people at the weightwatchers meeting in an earlier episode. I suspect he will die because that would be what pushes Kate to get the gastric bypass and stick with the new diet.

what's next for william? are we gonna find out he also may be passing as black a la rachel dolezal.

a terminally ill, recovering addict, black & gay elderly artist who left his kid.

Well, when you put it like that ...

Also, he is just so kind. So far no behavioral impact from addiction. Talking awkwardly, out of turn, taking part in other addictions as a replacement for the ones he gave up, brain cells severely affected, hallucinations/trips.

Yeah, not a lucky family

I would say a real family. Very few families get out unscathed by the time the kids are mid-30s.

He kept talking about being in a middle seat so maybe it's deep vein thrombosis? Meanwhile I loved parts of this episode but thought it was kinda out of the blue -- so dramatic with a capital D for a show that usually deals in little dramas.

I am so emotionally invested in this show that I really don't know how I'll make it until January. I know they said nothing bad happens on Christmas Eve, but what if Toby falling was after midnight making it Christmas Day?! Ugh.

Also, Sterling K. Brown deserves every acting award known to mankind. He's a god among men.

YES!!He has created such a wonderful character. At first I was afraid the show was going in the direction of the white people saving the poor black boy, but no, he created this complex and lovable character filled with integrity and he is the most admirable one. If the show turned into just his him and his family, that would be fine with me.

The man deserves an Emmy.

Or what if Kate is pregnant? With or without Toby.

I'm still a big William fan and liked the new layer of his character revealed this week, especially Randall's daughter's blase reaction, compared with her father's.

We won't know until January 10!

Probably not. I hope not. I don't see the point in killing him off at this time.

In other news, Sterling K. Brown is an acting god.
